Please stop looking for a roofing contractor, Alan at ARS Roofing will take great care of you! He gave a great price, clearly a professional with 24+ years experience and over-delivered on everything we discussed. I had a lot of issues beyond my roof, he corrected prior errors and all work looks great. His employees cared about their work and were well supervised. You will not regret calling ARS Roofing! Beware! Profeasional CON Artists! BEWARE BEWARE and do not let them into your home. In short, they were contracted for roof and solar, received the full contract amount of $40k, installed roof half assed, and NEVER installed solar. They are partners going after first time home buyers and taking advantage of good people. *still negotiating, some money was refunded* More details below.
The subcontractor comes into our home, we said we only agree to have solar financed as we cannot afford nothing else. They convinced us that we would get a really good deal and much less on labor if we were to do the roof as well. Adding the roof to the contract would only add $7500 and we would get a brand bew roof and a solar system offsetting us to zero. When monthly payment calculated, it made sense that the savings we would get from saving on electircal bills would basically pay off the loan payments for solar in addition to increasing the home value. So we agreed to get both done for $40k where the roof was supposed to be $7500 and remaining $32500 is for solar. They took two loans with our names, they put a lean on our house, promised us we would get everything done within a few weeks and that the permit for solar is already in the works while they finish the roof. We realized that the loans were taken just for the roof but they assured us that this was only so they can get the money to buy the solar panels and be able to install it quicker. We never agreed to have the loan only for the roof but again with trusting them based on a handshake and having a contract stating we would get both solar and roof. We let it go but started worrying. After roof was done ( half assed) since there were some plywood that looked that needed to change but they didn't change it and said that they had already put the other layer on top so they wouldn't go back and add another plywood and that that one didn't seriously need to change now! We let it go cause they are the roof experts not us but after research we know now that should have been changed along with the rest. Finally they said roof was done, for their money from the loans supposedly to get the solar panels and that was IT! We didn't hear from them for weeks! Then they picked up and said they would answer our calls and promised that the holdup was for permits. They brought another solar person, they they said they had issues with that solar person and brought another. They brought many solar people ranging from licensed to unlicensed people. At that point we had read a few things and didn't allow unlicensed work to happen after they wanted us to go with it and sign the permit as if we were the one doing rhe solar. They attempted for us to commit fraud but thankfully we did not fall for that trap. We then kept negotiating hoping that we do not need to go the complaint or the legal route and still don't but we may have no choice. I haven't even wanted to write a bad review so I do not hurt their business as we wait for negotiation. They signed a paper with contract, and agreement to pay at least the difference which is the solar amount and a little less than that to settle without going to court so we accepted a hit and went with it. This new contract gave them a good chunk of time to pay us back but when it expired, we had gotten less than half of the money. Then months after that, we get promises that this week and next week they would get money and pay us back. ALAN roght hand, Michael Golberg has promised that he would be paying. As of now, Alan does not even take our calls so he is for sure in it as he is the one who the loan servicer paid the money to. We do not have solar and are forced to pay back the loan and it's interests without the hoped for savings of electrical bills so obviously that had caused us to be behind on payments and since the lean loan is part of property taxes that had made us almost fall into default but they actually gave us a bit to cover that bit of property taxes. They actually said we do not need to worry about paying that we have 5 years to pay those taxes. They even gave us multiple bounced checks. Some of the excuses that they have been sick so we empathize which we did until they picked up the phone when they are in Disney land as they said probably spending our money to live while we have to work full time jobs and additional part time jobs just to cover what they owe us which in turn had taken time from our kid, caused us stress to the point of getting actually sick. We can't believe how they could sleep at night knowing that they are damaging a young family when we can't even sleep at night stressing how we will be paying our next loan payment in addition to the rising electrical bill. This is over a year later and we are fed up and telling the world the truth so they do not have to go through what we have been through. Next up will have to go to the BBB and take more action.

Gave these guys one star because there no zero-star option. Con artists, liars and chests. Contracted for windows and was told 4-6 weeks. Now in the 14th week and still nothing. In my opinion but run away from these cheats. Working on my letter to the BBB.

I called these guys they do quality work.. if you were looking for a roofing company here in San Diego looking nowhere else. Our roof was recently completed by ARS Roofing. Prior to selecting a contractor, we had requested three bids. ARS Roofing was recommended to us so we called Alan, the owner, and requested a bid. He promptly was in touch with me and arrived on time to provide an estimate for replacement of our concrete tile and underlayment on a home of about 3,100 square feet. Alan provided an excellent price in the middle of our bids but he was the most thorough in explaining the roofing process, the staging of the job, and the attention to detail of his crews. After speaking with him and checking out the status of his license, we decided to hire him to do our re-roofing job.

Alan was very flexible in scheduling the job since my wife and I had some upcoming travel. Once a date was set to begin, Alan's crew who handles tearing off the old roof tiles, underlayerment, and cleaning up after completing the demo was excellent. They showed respect for our home, were careful to pick up any nails on our property, cleaned all the trash, and swept our concrete surfaces. The next crew were the installers and they began identifying rotted wood, and determining where new wood would need to be installed. This crew which partially consisted of a father, Pablo Sr. and his two sons did superb work.

We did have a minor issue on the job since the tile distributor didn't send the correct number of tiles to complete the job. This added several days as new tiles were ordered and we wailted for delivery. ARS Roofing had nothing to do with this delay and Alan kept me informed as to when the remaining tiles would be delivered and the job would be completed.

At the completion of the job, Alan's crew once again removed any trash and swept our property. During the job, we did have dust in our house, but that is to be expected when roofers are nailing and walking on the roof. In sum, the beauty about hiring ARS roofing is that you deal with Alan, the owner. He is an honest business owner who does what he says and follows-through on his commitments. It was a pleasure working with him and all all his employees. I wouldn't hestitate to hire Alan for your roofing job. If you want it done right without hassles, this is a company that provides the very best of customer service. Alan came out quickly after we called. He brought samples of all the different layers, explained the process and left us with a booklet while we thought it over. He even came out and brought samples of the colors we were stuck between. We had a few questions before deciding and he was always quick to respond. We were scheduled within a few weeks but the crew was delayed on another project because of the weather. We weren't in a hurry so it wasn't a big deal. There were some delays along the way so it took a bit longer than expected. I took off a star for a couple reasons.

1. They didn't put plastic down while working in our sunroom so there was a lot of black grit all over the room. It was a real pain to clean up but nothing got ruined so not such a big deal.

2. The workers left trash in our yard. Not just roof stuff but bottled drinks and food wrappers.

3. There was a pipe that was installed crooked that we wanted to have fixed. We had let Alan know within a couple days of them finishing and he said he would come back in a couple weeks. 2 months went by without us hearing anything so I reached out again. He said he could have someone out the next morning but they didn't show. The did come the following day and it was fixed easily.

4. We had requested a copy of something showing we had paid for our supplies in case we needed it if the supplier tried to put a lien on the house. We have asked 3 times now and still haven't received anything. It makes me a little nervous but I do have an invoice showing a zero balance so I hope that will suffice.

5. When Alan first came out he said we would be able to pay by card through the Quickbooks invoice he sent. We did that for the initial deposit but he asked for the remaining payments to be by check because of a fee on the card. Not a big deal but I was planning on putting it in my credit card for points. We explained this to him and we worked out an agreement.

So all in all it was an ok experience. Alan's estimate was about $1600 less than another company we called out and I think it was worth it. Just stay on top of things yourself and don't rely on someone else.

I called to schedule an estimate for a complete roof replacement. The gentleman who answered said he was driving, was six minutes from his destination, and would call me right back. He never called back. Very unprofessional.

Alan and his team fixed some gables and vents in my attic where I had several pretty serious leaks. He provided a bunch of pictures of the areas that needed fixes, explained how he was going to fix it, and the specific components (new vents, flashing, and synthetic paper) needed to fix the leak.

The price was very reasonable, especially as he included the top of the line components and this 50 year synthetic paper that is super tough.

After the first job was completed, Alan took a look at a second area where I had seen a very small leak. He inspected the area and found no leaks and suggested it was a result of the previous leak he had fixed.

Alan has real integrity and he has a steady and capable team. He was recommended to me by my neighbor and I also highly recommend him.
