Jim Barron is honest, experienced and prices fairly. We had a significant leak that caused damage that Jim could have really up charged us on but he didn't! Instead he treated us fairly.

Anderson Roofing and particularly Patrick and Ruben did a great patch-job on our roof. They were thoughtful, detailed, and hand held my 88 year old mom through the roofing repair process. I recommend this company for your roofing needs.

Anderson Roofing & Sheet Metal Co., Inc. (not the other Anderson Roofing) is a unionized company in San Francisco, has had its workers for many years and has been in business for decades. The crew members were respectful, professional (no dilly dally at work) and cleaned up daily. They worked hard and replaced my flat field roof, pitched roof and skylights, one of which is large.
I interviewed 6 roofers and did my own research (over 3 months) on various flat roofing materials before I narrowed down to 2 roofers. I chose this Company, because Mr. Barron is hands on in the business, has vast experience, has had his crew for many years, was patient with my questions and gave me options and pros/cons, plus provided credible references (who I spoke with). The price was fair, considering the expertise, longevity of both the business and workers, materials and equipment used. The whole process was impressive and what's more impressive was the finished work! (If only we could have a picnic on the roof.)
Highly recommended!

Patrick showed up for an estimate, He said he would test to see if there was more than one roof layer by poking the existing roof. I said I did not want another hole. He spent some time on the roof and ignored my calling his name from the front and back of the house. No estimate was sent and he did not respond to calls and emails. Instead, I started getting drips from the ceiling with every sprinkle whereas before the water was only coming up from the floor in very heavy storms. Never found out what he did.

I've used Anderson for several roofing jobs recently, the latest for replacing the tile section of my roof. The job took skilled roofers several weeks, and the result is beautiful. These aren't the usual rounded tiles, but flat ones from when the house was built in the 1930's. They had to be removed, the underlayer redone, and then the tiles put back in place. Anderson has also done roof repairs to the tar and gravel roof they installed in 1992 and made skylight repairs. I've been very satisfied with their work.

Absolutely wonderful!! We just completed an entire new roof with Jim and his team and couldn't be happier. We most definitely will recommend Anderson Roofing & Sheet Metal to family and friends. Thank you so much for your professionalism and attention to detail.

Old school pros. First off, i've been in the construction industry for decades. Anderson is one of the best roofers in the west bay. Their roofing and waterproofing work are first rate. They work quickly and completely. Are always on time and complete the work for the cost and schedule agreed to. While not the cheapest, their work really lasts (I have a 5 year tar/gravel roof that is still in service 16 years later with no leaks, cracks or bubbles).
Word to the wise. Have Anderson check your roof periodically BEFORE it starts leaking. That way, the repairs are more modest (like no dry rot or water damage requiring reframing and other work that they do not do and you must do before their roff/waterproofing work is complete). FYI, West side San Francisco, Pacifica and the coast are very hard on your house. A small visit and patch or touch up can save you big money. Do it on the daylight savings change, as i do every other year. Don't be surprised when they peel a very old roof back and find a bigger mess than agreed. But JIm and Anderson will show it to you and tell you what needs to be done if this happens. And you can only do three layers of shingles before they have to strip it and replace it (It's the building code).
Finally, some of the older posts appear to be people that don't work well with contractors (if you have a meeting, be on time). Not all work is forever, but i have never had any anderson work not significantly exceed it's warranty. Period. Good guys, fair prices and i have referred them to dozens of people, all are satisfied customers.

I am generous with 4 star ratings for those who do quality work. I save 5 star ratings for rare cases to preserve the value of an ""outstanding"" rating. Here is how Anderson earned my ""outstanding"" rating:
#1: We had a small patch of roof where the rain would pool. Previous roofers failed to solve the problem. Phil studied it and figured out a creative way to raise one end of the underlying joists to bank the 4'x7' section of roof. Problem solved, with no extra charge despite the additional construction work.
#2: Several shingles fell in a 5"" gap between our house and the neighbor's, out of reach. Anderson took responsibility and came up with a way to connect two long poles end-to-end with a hook at the end, patiently pulling out shingles one at a time. Problem solved.
Work was done on the main roof efficiently, professionally, at reasonable cost--4 stars for that, plus a 5th for the sincere effort to ""go the extra mile"" leaving us with a better roof than we had before!

Phil from Anderson Roofing came promptly and on time to give us an estimate to replace our 25 year old roof. We were pleased to learn that we have a few more years of life in our current shingles, so there is no need to replace the roof right away. Meanwhile, we have a very detailed, fair estimate of the work once we decide to proceed. We are planning to install solar panels, and the cost to remove and replace those during the roofing work is quoted as $50 for each penetration -- not bad in my opinion.

I had Anderson Roofing repair a small light well that was leaking. They had done a major and very expensive re roof on the same light well some years ago and it started leaking again. The contract required a down payment of 10% up front which I paid them. When the bill arrived, they did not deduct the 10% deposit they had already received even though they had already cashed my deposit check. They then further inflated the bill by inventing a charge of $90 for ""owner delay"". I had called their office prior the my appointment and moved my appointment to 10:30 from 10:00 due to a bad traffic pile up on the Bay Bridge . When I arrived at the job site at 10:15 they were already there and said nothing about a charge of $90 for me arriving 15 minutes after the first appointment time. They could have started the job without me being there, but seemed to be having a good time sitting and smoking in front of my house. I had been told that the job would take four hours, it was actually over in two hours anyway so I don't see how they were ""delayed"". I had never approved this charge or even heard of any potential add on charges. They also told me the repair was warrantied for 6 months. The fine print in the contract actually says should repairs prove unsuccessful, one service call with be scheduled at no cost to you. I guess I am out of luck should it leak since they don't actually say they will fix it and now I know how they do business!
I called the Contractors State Licensing Board and was told that there inflated charges were illegal and could result in fines against them. When I called Anderson Roofing about the unauthorized charges on my bill, I was told that the person answering the phone had only been there three days and could not help me. Later calls resulted in a very rude woman telling me they had been in business a long time ( as though that excused them for over charging me) and that the failure to deduct the 10 % deposit from my bill was a ""bookkeeping error"". They still have not fixed the bill and the owner had not bothered to return my calls. I just checked and they are not even members of the Better Business Bureau. Do yourself a favor, avoid these guys.
