Company Overview
If you seek a learning opportunity and are looking for the ideal solutions to protect your property, Amstill is the perfect choice for you. Our services include detailed assessments, repair services, new installations, and support for insurance claims.
Established by our owner, Frank Stilley, Amstill Roofing, originally named Stilley Roofing in the early 70s, was launched when Frank was just 21 years old. He built on values of honor and integrity. We are a family-run business, we are now entering the second generation of Stilleys. Frank & Sam Stilley serve the residential re-roofing market in Houston.
Frank Stilley established Amstill Stilley Roofing.
Amstill Roofing's name was inspired by the combination of American-Stilley; inspired by the aftermath of the Vietnam War, Frank desired a patriotic name to embody his love for America.
He served 28 years to The Harris County Sheriff's Office as a reserve Captain. While managing Amstill and defending Houston as a law enforcement officer, he also raised his son, Sam. Currently, Sam is a part owner of the company and wants to continue its legacy.
In the beginning, Frank focused on replacing worn wooden shingles on homes. By his commitment, integrity, and high-quality service, he built Amstill into the trusted company it is today. Customer satisfaction is his number one concern.
At Amstill, you are not just a customer; you are like family to us.
We are proud to be leaders in the roofing industry, supporting homeowners with insurance claims, fixing roof leaks, and providing the highest quality roofs available in the current market.

Recommended Customer Reviews
This company has been harassing me to remove my negative Yelp review since last November. They have sent me certified letters, emails, and phone calls, all threatening me to remove my negative review of their service and their company. This is not only a bad company due to their extremely poor customer service, but they believe in harassing and bullying their customers with legal Threats For Several Months Following. They were Paid In Full last year, yet they are still hounding me about the review. They have a horrible management as explained in my earlier review. The owners, in my opinion, do Not care to work with the customers, they seem to only want payment, and their actions shows that they are Bullies who believe in Attorneys rather than one on one conversations with their customers. Yelp has Laws against this type of harassment and Bullying by companies to intimidate the customers to Remove their reviews. Also the 1st Amendment has Laws against gagging someone of their right to Freedom of Speech and Beliefs! It has been Six (6) months since I hired them and they are still Harassing, Intimidating, and Bullying me into removing my 2017 review! Everything I wrote in my 2017 review has been True to my knowledge and True to my beliefs! I did Not make up anything. Everything I complained about is my Honest Opinion per the logical sequence of events that occured that Same Afternoon since your contractors left my property. I will be making a complaint to YELP and the Better Business Bureau regarding your threats, bullying, and hounding me for the last 6 Months!!! STOP HARASSING ME for my True Opinions, but Negative review of your Company!!!! This has caused me much Mental Stress and Time dealing with your hounding these past several months! I have contacted several attorneys regarding your harassment of me and my Honest reviews on Yelp. Again, Cease and Desist from your ongoing bullying me of my review.
I am not happy with this company.
Just a few months before Harvey, I got leaks and broken shingles but the insurance company did not want to pay for it. They literally said that I need to wait for the next hurricane to come and then file a claim again. That is exactly what I did.
After hurricane Harvey, I got more broken shingles and additional leaks. I reached out to Amstill because of the many positive review. I thought they can help me.
The person who came over visually checked my roof from the ground and assured me that he can get my whole roof fixed and that he has done this a lot of times. Even saying that he has gotten houses new roof paid for by the insurance with damages way less than mine. He asked that I have him come the day the insurance adjuster comes so that they can inspect my roof at the same time. But he did not arrive on time. The adjuster was done looking on my roof when he arrived. He then told me that we can dispute the claim if the insurance would not pay for it again. Lo and behold, the insurance company did not want to pay for it again. So I sent the report to the Amstill representative. After 2 months, he finally told me that he had spoken with TWIA but is not able to dispute it and can not do anything about it. I was so frustrated. This is the second roofing company that assured me and got my hopes high in a similar manner.
The bottom line is, I was made to believe that they can help me get a new roof paid for by the insurance and that they have helped many homeowners with the same situation as me. But in the end this company was unable to deliver.
I will try to get another company after the next high wind.
Giang N.Short Review: All in all -- they're just ""OK"" as the 3 stars suggests (positive for professionalism; negative for the higher pricing; Neutral for the mediocre customer service). I think the 4.5 stars is a little overstated, as they are not much different than any other contractor. The extra upfront charge should be backed by a level of quality/excellence/customer service, which I did not get. Eh, it's part of home ownership, right? Dealing with contractors.
Long Review: I had a roof leak and had gone on Yelp to request a few quotes. A few contractors got back to me and gave me a quote for the work. Amstill's pricing came out slightly higher (couple hundred dollars), and they quoted me an additional optional $725 to reseal/replace all of my flashing on the roof as a preventative measure. I signed a contract with Amstill for the level of professionalism they presented and didn't haggle anything. With that I also paid them extra to reseal all of my flashing per their recommendation. I figured since they're already up there, I might as well have them do the extra preventative work. They did the work -- I paid them. Everything went as expected -- their contractor came out and sealed my leak.
After 5 days of raining here in downtown Houston during Harvey (about 5 months after repair), I noticed a water spot on my wall. I had initially assumed it was a leaking shingle since I just sealed the flashing. It took me a while, but I eventually found the small leak of water dripping down the side of the pipe a few weeks after Harvey. I had contacted Amstill regarding the leak from the flashing (which I had paid extra to reseal; It was from one of the ones they worked on). They had their contractor come out and take a look at it from inside. They called me back the following Monday and quoted me $375 for them to come back another day and repair it claiming it was storm damage. They claimed it was a new leak (ignoring that they touched it during preventative maintenance.) I requested to speak to Sam, but instead an admin called me back to tell me he was busy, they spoke, and that the pricing is that -- take it or leave it. I ended up paying the $375. It's not a lot, but it's the principle of customer service and guaranteeing your work.
It's arguable that it might not have leaked had they not initially touched it and that maybe the leak was there when they completed the work, but it had not surfaced until enough water had collected inside to damage the wall. They warrant their work for 45 days (stated on the contract; I asked for 90 days like in some reviews, but no go) which is not quite enough time to really diagnose their workmanship or for a failure to reveal itself (unless you climb up to your roof and then hose it down; could fix your own roof at that point). The mantra of ""if it ain't broke, don't fix it"" rings true in my case. I saw a reply to one of Amstill's review suggesting a reviewer's roof was ready for bad weather... can you back that?
I was hoping they'd go above and beyond their competitors since they charge a little more and I invested a little extra for preventative service, but instead they decided they could make a few dollars more. While I picked Amstill due to their level of professionalism, I would say that's the only edge they have over their competitor. You're paying a little bit extra for the professionalism, but the overall care/customer service is just about the same as any.
Rosie H.Probably the most professional company I have reached out to , to date. I had a lot of questions and needed some serious help. They were quick to respond and help me with anything that I needed. Never once did I feel like a burden. I would recommend this company to anyone who is needing help with their roof. Thank you!!!!!
Cliff M.I had Sam come out the other day for one of their free roofing inspections as I had just purchased a new home. He arrived on time, was very professional, and promptly gave me a great overview of every issue on the roof. He even took photos and gave advice on how to mitigate any current problems. After he got down from my roof, we traveled inside for his interior inspection. Couldn't believe someone would crawl around in my attic for free.. he checked for issues in there as well.
A great inspection and valuable advice by an honest roofer
Mariana P.Such a great experience all around. My house got water leaks from Hurricane Harvey and I reached out to Amstill Roofing because they had great reviews. The customers were not lying! Sam and his team were there the next day and got my roof fixed in the middle of the storm. If it wasn't for them, my house would have some serious water damage. Can't thank them enough!
Sam came to my home at a time convenient to me with actual samples of product. I wanted to consider going with a different shingle style and the samples really helped. The other 3 - 4 companies that I interviewed brought pamphlets - little pictures, not actual samples! He also was very helpful and actually listened to my opinions re: number and location of soffit vents that I wanted to add. In my considerable experience with contractors, rarely do they care what a female homeowner things or wants. Sam and Amstilley were an exception and really listened and honored my decisions. I selected an upgrade shingle and 5 soffit vents and it all looks great.
Their crew worked so hard and was very polite. They did a great job of protecting my landscaping and really cleaned up the mess. Nice change from the last roofing job I had done.
Update:
Very happy to say, Jose came by, was very punctual inspected the issue I pointed out to him. And I have absolute assurance the roof has been well installed. Thank you, for listening to this customer, which should show others that this company is fully committed to its customers. Thank you very much for putting my concerns to rest.
Update: i have found a vent cover with a gap and looks loose, and I see light coming in. I have contacted the company, and will change my rating once i see how promptly they respond to my request to fix or correct the problem. This is a cover that was removed and reinstalled by the company when the roof was replaced. There was zero light coming in before the roof work. The work is supposed to be under warranty. This is where the company will show its commitment to its work and its customers.
Initially we had rain-related backlog delays, but finally a Sunny day came! Amstill was very professional. The owner accommodated my busy schedule, and they finished the roof in one day. They cleaned up very efficiently, and Jose was very professional.
Used Amstill after hail storm in the area. They did a great job. In and out in a day. Very responsive during the quote and bid process. Had to wait a little while to get on their schedule. They were that busy but were worth the wait. Recommended them to a friend and she is very happy with them also.
Desiree M.The customer service impeccable! The owners are very professional and pay close attention to detail. The home repair process can be a bit overwhelming at times when dealing with multiple companies. Amstill is a very trustworthy company that I will continue to call on for future roofing repair. Thank you Amstill!
