Dodged this bullet.
Got a quote with replacement windows after I discussed with Tim Nash that we wanted only new construction with nailing fin (we have to replace most of the trim anyway, which they were going to do!!!). Was quoted low-end Simonton box-frame replacements, and it was crazy expensive compared with 3 other quotes I got.
Estimate was also vague, with no detail as to the work that would be done.
Oh yeah...and the one follow-up email I got was to inform me that prices would be going up 5% in the next several days, despite the fact that the quote stated the pricing was good through 5/15/21.
Run. Run fast and run far.
I sent an email thru their website requesting they contact me so I can get a quote. No contact in a week, so it's not starting off very well and we are looking at other options.
An 8 day projected job turned into 5 weeks. The crew didn't even have a chop saw, table saw or scaffolding. After 3 weeks I was about to lose my cool. Rediculous lack of common construction practices and sense. The two outside electrical outlets were just left bare wires. Im now having outages on one side of my duplex from the outlets that don't work on the inside from the construction. No telling how much I'll have to spend on electricians finding the issues. Allied never returned my calls and messages I left. Don't even think about using this company.
Absolutely the worst customer service of any company I've ever worked with. They put siding on my home about a year ago, and I ended up with loose shingles in several places on my roof around where they did work (e.g. dormer windows, by covered patio, etc.). I've been trying to get the roof repaired for 9 months and can barely get a response to my emails. If you want a company that stands by their work and provides good customer service, hire someone else.
Absolutely stay away from this company. Failed to get work done on schedule, but still wanted to be paid on time. Failed to perform work for which it billed that was not obvious to the eye until building inspector said no insulation in house. Literally took months to come back after acknowledged work not done. Even after doing work, failed completely to finish one room. Have been waiting months for the to come back; haven't shown up.
Spoke to Tim Nash, said would send people out; never showed up. Now doesn't even return phone calls.
Asked to speak with Tim's supervisor. Given the name of John Culver. Have left numerous messages without decency of return call.
As a return customer I had expectations that Allied would provide us with great customer service and an excellent product however I have never been more disappointed or treated so terribly by a company. According to the contract we signed, a ""certified installer"" would install our 8 windows that we were having replaced, 3 of which were on our 2nd story. Allied sent one man without a ladder to do this job in a ""guaranteed one day job"". This man was subcontracted by Allied and not a certified installer. The windows were not installed properly and our personal property was damaged during the installation. Allied then sent another team of installers that were not certified to fix the issues and repair our property. This took another 8 days. After they were finished one of our windows was still not working properly and we are still waiting for them to complete this project. I have personally been insulted on numerous occasions by the sales person and the project manager. At one point she even threatened to pull her team from the project and put a lien against my home if I didn't pay in full for the work they had completed. I was so offended since I had missed several days of work, had to purchase wall and exterior paint and reschedule many appointments to accommodate their incompetence. This ""one day job"" has been going on since the middle of April and sadly is still not completed. They did offer us a ""discount"" since we were ""inconvenienced"" but it was not even enough money to cover the paint I had to purchase and time I had to take off of work. We even had a phone conversation with the CEO and while he said all the right things, he and his team have not delivered on their promisesI DO NOT recommend this company to anyone. Buyer/consumer beware.
UPDATE: it has now been over 5 months and our job is still not complete and NO ONE is responding to my calls and emails. I have a sash that does not fit and the second replacement that they ordered is, again, the wrong size. The customer service is appalling and we are considering legal recourse.
I really wanted to be able to give Allied Siding and Windows a five star rating, but cannot do so for several reasons. In September 2017, I had our whole house siding replaced with Hardie plank siding, a new sliding patio door installed, and gutters installed on the back side of the house. The salesperson Tim was very polite and came up with what I considered to be a fair proposal for the job. The three man crew who installed the siding and door were also courteous and polite, although we had a major language barrier with only one person on the crew speaking English. The old siding was taken off and new siding installed shortly after, so the house was wrapped at all times. The siding lines up beautifully, and so far I believe is watertight, although no one did any caulking that I can tell. The painting crew came out and at first painted everything in a grade of paint inferior to the one we had on our contract. When I saw the paint cans they used with the type of paint, I brought this up to the lead contractor. He apologized and had the crew come back the next day to repaint the entire house in the correct grade of paint. The paint crew who had been so neat with the first day's work were far less tidy the next; I found lots of overspray where they cut corners by not completely protecting all surfaces.
The gutter that Allied installed by a different person is great. The gentleman who put it up had the perfect day to test it (raining that day), and I couldn't be happier with how it looked and how neatly he attached the gutter and drains. The gutter has a leaf guard system that in theory should keep the gutter clean, but in practice allowed lots of small twigs, dirt, etc., to pass through. Not Allied's fault at all - this is the nature of just about any gutter system, and after I recently cleaned on stopped up drain, it is working fine.
My biggest concern and complaint is with the Simonton sliding glass door we ordered, more than $2K and pure junk. Possibly due to installation errors and a faulty product, it is extremely difficult to open and close, the hardware has loosened, the screen does not latch, and I feel assured it won't last very long at all. I have been trying without success since September to get someone to come to our house who speaks fluent English and examine the door. For quite some time I was getting very nice replies from Allied staff saying they would pass my requests on to persons in the Austin area to come check this out, but no one has actually called or stopped by. This morning was the final straw - I tried to follow up with emails to the Allied contacts I had and emails were kicked back as undeliverable.
As I said earlier, I really want to be able to give this company five stars, but based on the sliding door alone, I find that impossible. Allied, come on site and examine the door - I don't think I'm being nitpicky at all. I'll be glad to update this review afterwards.
Bam S.Beware....The Worst Customer Service
I replaced my whole house windows with Allied Siding & Window for total of 22 windows and spent more than $15k. The process of buying was great UNTIL 1 bathroom window that they said will be ordered and installed on the installation day ( in which I already have paid off all ). On the installation day, they installed 21 windows and they said the did not have the bathroom window and it would take them 2 months to order. Which I am surprised because they promised would ordered and installed on the same day of installation. As you know that I have ordered and paid on May 2017 for ALL 22 windows.
After I waited for 2 months and called them many times, it seems like they don't care to installed my last window. I called them many times but once again they seems like do not care with their own customers.
I have been waiting until right now and they never install it. I asked them to give me credit but they said no. They said,"" We already ordered your window and your window is at our office and you need to contact our installer. WHAT??? Did I pay everything with the installation cost? Why now I am the one who need to call them and ""begging "" them to install my own window? After I called many times and promises after promises - they never deliver their promise. And I am still ending up with a disappointment with their services and promises.
Gina L.I've never written a poor review for any company. That should give you a sense of my frustration level. They do a great job selling you on what an outstanding company they are but once you sign on the dotted line, forget about it.
Allied hired a contractor that didn't show up twice - and when he finally did show up he put one window in and said he needed to get better equipment and would be back In a ""couple of weeks."" I protested and said that this would be the second day I had to take off work so he said he would be back Monday (in 7 Days). Spoiler, he didn't show up.
I called allied to complain and was told that they've been having a lot of problems with this guy. Huh? Why use him then? I had to insist they send someone the same week and they did. The new contracted out in all the windows e Celia for two large windows and the French doors. Why? Well, because Allied measured wrong. On two different ocassions by the way.
Up until this point - no one at Allied management has apologized nor called me. In fact - I have two emails out to the Austin manager that he hasn't responded to. But put a pin in that for now.
As soon as the new installer called to tell me the doors and two windows were measured wrong I called the Houston corporate office to at least cancel the doors (2k) and was told it was too late. Now...it has been aproximatley 4 minutes since I learned of the issuer so imagine my surprise to hear that they are saying it's too late. Interesting. I said again that I wanted the doors canceled and confirmation that they were cancelled. That was two weeks ago- no confirmation has come. Nor an apology.
So, I've got two large windows and Frenchman doors in my garage - that don't fit. Two weeks ago I asked that these be taken away. You guessed it, folks. I took a half day so they could be picked up and no one has shown up.
When did I start this window process by the way? November. It's now March.
And again, after four calls to the Houston office and two emails to the Austin Branch manager and sales manager...no call back no email back.
No apology no offer of rectifying the situation.
I saved for two years for these windows. So...this has been awesome. As I write I still haven't no idea when or if the other two windows will come in, when they will be installed or if my doors have been cancelled.
Good luck if you used Allied.
I signed a purchase agreement on March 24, 2017 for Allied Siding & Windows to install Hardy Plank siding and install a French door at my residence. I was told that it would be 2-3 weeks to manufacture and deliver the door. Once the door delivered it would take one day for Allied to complete the project. Project should have been completed week of April 17th. After being lost in transit the door was originally delivered to house May 5th. When the installer came to install the door on May 12th, the door was 3"" too wide. I was told that the door was immediately reordered by Allied on May 12th and it would be delivered in 2-3 weeks. The door arrived in Austin 5 weeks later on June 16th and delivered to my house on June 23rd. When installer came to install the door on June 30th the door was 2"" too tall. Door was installed by cutting the header above the door on June 30th. The door trim was finally painted on July 12th. I still do not consider the project due to disagreement on scope of project related to painting of the soffit and guttering on the house.
