Robert W.I wish to thank Charles and his crew for their care and quality work. Charles took a personal interest in doing the required repairs and maintenance to our roof in a timely matter, just in time before the seasonal rains.
Lucy and Charles came out to my Thousand Oaks home and provided a fair price for some roof repair work that I needed done. On top of the roof tile replacements, we also asked them for a roof inspection and they were able to point out a few other items that needed repair.
All in all we felt they were very honest and we are very satisfied with the quality of All Climate's work.
Ed C.We hired the Climate Roofing back in July 2020 during the COVID pandemic for our 2nd floor leaky balcony. Owners Lucy & Charlie are very easy to work with. Their crew is also very knowledgeable & clean up is very prompt. Their professionalism is also a top notch. They will tell you what will be involved & will give their professional opinion/recommendations.
Post completion report - our balcony hasn't been leaking during the last 2 heavy rains we have had.
Keith G.Now, I wasn't going to do a review of All Climate Roofing, but since the owner's response to my wife's 1 star review was to blame me for pretty much everything (Owner's response to Cassie D review), let's have a review...
Our initial contact with All Climate Roofing was through Yelp on August 22. We had substantial leaking from an upstairs deck into our garage and needed at the very least for it to be sealed. The owner contacted and met with my wife on August 25 to review the job. As I am an essential worker and wouldn't be available, my wife was project lead, and everything was to be to her discretion.
The owner responded with an initial quote at 10:30 pm on August 25, we signed and responded the next day.. The owner responded that.they would be in touch the following week for scheduling. We followed up on September 1 and were told that they could not start the project until September 14th, and we confirmed.
September 14th came and we followed up again, were told that they would start on Thursday, September 17th. When we asked the time frame of number of hours and starting and ending times per day, we had no response, but our start date was pushed to the following week, Monday September 21. This was moved again to the 22nd. We are now one month into initial contact, and 28 days since first signing the contract.
Work finally started on Tuesday, September 22nd. Per my wife, the workmen showed up at 7:00 am (a little early for her taste) and began to tear apart the deck. Work immediately stopped 2 hours later due to the amount of damage to the underlying structure. The owner was called to review and do another inspection, and a more complete and complex job order was drawn up, which tripled the overall cost of the project (not a complaint, actually expected). An updated estimate was given on September 23rd at 11:00 pm and we signed and returned it the following day.
Here are my complaints:
- Hours of work - The crew would show up each day somewhere between 7:00 am and 10:00 am to start. This was never consistent. Their working hours were also sporadic, with some extended breaks during the day lasting hours. No work was ever done past 2:00 pm.
- On Friday, September 25th and Monday September 28th, two crew members spent most of the day working on their truck in our driveway. We had to give them a jump start at the end of both days as well.
- Plywood and wood beams were left on our grass for 6 days, effectively killing all the grass beneath it.
- An outside electrician had to be brought in to handle wiring that was run underneath the deck surface, but his timetable and the deck crew were never in sync. Work took longer than necessary due to delays from each other.
- A temporary tarp and wood mount was erected to allow for shade. I have no issue with that, as it was a very hot time of the year. My issue was that parts of the wood structure were left behind, still mounted to our wood trim and roof structure.
- Garage door was damaged, two broken windows they later replaced (in November, after complaint), and the garage door itself was removed and reinstalled after demolition. Re-installation was done haphazardly and we doubt it's safety.
- Damage done to inside wall of the house. Never fixed.
On Thursday, October 1 we were billed for the deck repairs (which we paid that day) and quoted an additional amount to fix the stucco, drywall, and paint the areas that had been demolished and needed repair. We were surprised that this was not included in the overall scope of work and spent the next 2 weeks having this quoted by additional contractors for price comparison.
On Monday, October 5 the deck repairs were finished and the deck itself was sealed and complete.
On Thursday, October 15th, we requested a follow up quote from All Climate Painting (the owner's other company) to do the stucco and paint only. We received this quote on Friday, October 16th at 9:30pm and signed and approved it the following day.
On Tuesday, November 3rd (two weeks of delay), stucco and paint work began on the deck and house, this was finished by Thursday, November 5th.
After some complaints about the garage door glass that had been broken, a crew member came out on Tuesday November 24th to remove another pane of glass to get the correct size and then fixed both broken panes on Wednesday, November 25th. Both days, the crew came after 6pm.
Final invoice was paid on November 28th and the job was complete.
Now, by quick math, the time frame from initial contact to job completion was 97 days. But the log of hours worked in that 97 day span is 51 hours. This whole job even with delays on our side should have taken 4 weeks, 5 tops. Not 14.
What angers me most about all of this isn't the constant delays or lack of proper communication, but the refusal to own up to mistakes and errors. And if your response to a bad review is to blame the spouse, this follow up review should be expected.
I was wildly disappointed from the jump, on day 3 I had called Lucy the ""project manager"" and told her I was concerned things where not going As expected and she assured me all is well. It was not. The job took 3 months not 7 days and well here is what I'd wish I'd known when we hired them off Yelp 3 months ago
-when you call Lucy she comes or sends someone to look then sends someone else days later then never follows up so everything takes at least 3-4 trips.
-late come and go as they please. Would be waiting to open the garage door for hours some days no calls.
-ruined our front lawn but putting the demo pile on it and leaving it over night.
-damaged garage door. See pictures.
-also shattered glass on garage and did eventually fix it. After calling Lucy 4 times.
-would leave and just not come back or call for weeks.
-had to call them to come finish the paint, they just left it undone.
-had to call to do stucco repair just left it for again weeks no contact.
-the Crew would work on their truck in our drive way.
Left a huge mess everywhere, sloppy work. See pictures
I never like to leave a 1 star but had to be honest. As I did find this company on Yelp.
Alan A.Always does a great job. Three homes, over ten years of services, never an issue. Thanks, guys, keep up the good work!
Alan
Steve H.called and made appointment to get roof checked , never showed , never called to say they were not going to make the appointment .
The company came out and gave me an estimate for the repairs along with a professional explanation of the issues. They are experts in waterproofing not only on roofs but windows and other openings. Once the job was started, they were neat and through. As most companies do, they discovered additional problems once the roof and window was removed. They negotiated fairly for a change order, and completed the work in three days as promised. The staff at the job was friendly, and so was the office staff when I had questions about the bill. Only had part of the roof done, but I would call them again if additional work is needed.
Marilyn L.These folks did a terrific job painting the outside of our house and replacing our roof
I have used all climate roofing 3 times over the past several years and must say the service, workmanship and costs have deteriorated significantly over time. Charles was once responsive and service oriented --now he and his wife appear to be focused on generating their own revenue than on delivering on customer service.
I would definitely recommend getting other quotes before using all climate--if you do us them I suggest that you except to be less than delighted with the overall value
