The home we recently purchased had some older solar panels and the panels weren't able to be monitored. Since we are in somewhat of a fire zone where SDGE turns off power occasionally during fire season, I decided we should have more solar panels as well as a couple of Tesla Power walls. I talked with 3 companies and got recommendations and estimates from each.

I spoke with Adam from Alive Solar first. I was wondering if there was a way to incorporate the old panels into the new system and monitor them as well. Adam said that wasn't a problem and suggested a way to replace the old inverter and use the older panels with the new inverter. The new solar panel arrangement was perfect. He was very knowledgable. But I needed to get other opinions.

Next, I got a quote from another company (think ""Costco""). What a disaster. The person on the phone said they couldn't integrate the old panels with the new and they would install the new system that would be totally separate. They seemed either uninformed or lazy. Also, the arrangement of the panels was totally haphazard.

The last company gave a similar recommendation as Alive Solar. However, Alive gave me 2 extra panels at a slightly reduced price.

The installation went pretty smoothly. The thing I noticed was that all of the installation crew were focused on being sure that I was totally satisfied with their work at all times. I heard ""you're the boss"" more than once and they weren't being sarcastic!

Throughout the entire process, it always seemed like the advice I was given from Adam turned out to be accurate. I felt I could trust that what he was saying was in my best interest. I'm sure that is part of the DNA of his company.

Adam was great! Called to track down some answers on batteries for our SolarEdge system. Pandemic has wrecked havoc on trying to get a backup system installed. Was able to look up availability instantly and provide answers that honestly the other installers couldn't. Priced out two variations, but was great was that he knew the system intimately as he had the system himself at home. Talk about walk the walk and talk the talk.

Late review....but...Alive Solar & roofing did a great job! Would def recommend them! I reached out to them in January for roof underlayment and solar after finding them on Facebook (Escondido Friends) *Side notes, we had reach out to other companies as well* Adam and his team showed up on a Saturday in January and gave us a quote on the underlayment replacement for the roof along with solar (SUCH a good price) then they told us about the Tesla Solar glass roof, which my husband said YES. So fast forward etc, I call in April to check on the status of the permit and stuff...it was still pending with the city...then didn't hear back and I decided to call in May to find out, they were going to show up the following week (Due to someone forgetting to let me know city approve the work to start) -- any who, minus that miscommunication(?), Alive Solar & Roofing did an amazing job, they clean their mess and they were courteous to let me know when they had arrive in the morning.

Wow! Such phenomenal people at ALIVE. We recently bought a home and had Mike come out to check out the status of the roof. It looks somewhat old, so I was expecting a necessary replacement right around the corner. Mike told us that the roof has a solid few years left! He did a thorough evaluation when he was here and noticed some drilled holes that were left by a different solar company when the previous owner had solar panels installed. Talking with the Home Warranty company it was ultimately figured out to have that other solar company fix their error without cost to us. When our roof needs replacing down the line, we'll definitely be using ALIVE. Thank you Mike and ALIVE for being an honest company! I look forward to working with you guys in the future!!

Def a solid company in a sea of losers. First, Adam came out physically to walk me through all the details of a bid. Second, the installation team went above and beyond, even when faced with a poorly designed electrical setup from another contractor; They held to their word and bid. Lastly, their final setup with SDGE and follow up was superb.

I would highly recommend them alone, on their word and trust... but overall install and service was excellent!

We are really pleased with the new roofs on our house, garage, and guest cottage! These are older structures with flat, vertical, and pitched roof lines, so it was a challenge. I so appreciated Mike's suggestions about how to address a vertical area with a special treatment and what material would work for our flat areas. I'm pretty surprised at how wonderful our 1930 vintage house turned out and how nice it looks. The crew started when predicted, finished in less time than estimated, and did a daily cleanup so that we weren't tracking a mess in and out of our house. The price estimate was a bit under what it turned out to be, but that was because there was damage that wasn't obvious until the old roof was removed. The cost sheets I was given in advance allowed me to keep a running tally of what overruns to expect. The best suprise is no surprise, so I am grateful for that. We were pleased with the work and the price. I recommend them with no reservations, whatsoever.
