Alcal Specialty Contracting - Fremont
Company Overview
Our Insulation Solutions
Batt insulation is a type of fiberglass blanket that is offered in rolls or sheets, designed for straightforward handling.
Loose fill insulation is installed by blowing it directly into the attic using specialized equipment. Blowing in insulation is a faster process than batts and ensures complete coverage of the attic.
Growing Alcal's services in the residential sector is an important part of our strategy. As the leader of the Home Services Division, I develop strategies to precisely target the sub-segments that comprise this sector. I carry out the sales, marketing, and operational plans essential for building this division of Alcal.

Recommended Customer Reviews

Would never recommend them to anyone. Not even someone I HATED.
This co.pany promises and never delivered.
I ordered a garage door over $5000. They had no problem taking half 6 months ago. I have been given 3 different promise dates and final date was AGAIN CHANGED.
I had to fight for my refund. I had to contact them every time to see what was going on.
I worked with a guy named Tugvy and lasy named Kelly. BOTH GAVE HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

Martin from Alcal installed new garage doors and I am really happy with the service. After few weeks, we found some minor issues which he came back and fixed (some issues was just because of the new doors and it would go away with lubrication affecting!). Loved that he showed up with mask and came on scheduled time. Will definitely recommend.

My garage door wasn't closing consistently, so Martin came over and helped lubricate all the springs and squeaky things. A little late on arrival (arrival window was 8am-12pm, arrived at 12:15pm). He was nice and gave me the can of lubricant he used for future use. Really nice and would recommend.

I bought a new home several years ago and was given 2 remotes for the garage door opener. One of the remotes was not working and the builder contracted with Alcal. The builder told us to reach out to them and they could have a technician come out. Please note we just moved in and Darrin Arnst said he could not fix the remote. So, Alcal provided a brand new remote that was not working and you cannot fix it. He said he could sell a used one for $37.00. And, now you are selling us a used remote. I was at least expecting to get a new replacement and Alcal would not charge us. I had no choice but to buy the used remote since I only had one working remote and this family has multiple vehicles. We were planning to buy several more remotes but he was so rude and annoyed that he came out just for this that we decided to buy the used remote and be done with Darrin and Alcal. I don't know if it was due to my elderly parents and a single woman being the customers of Alcal but we felt totally taken advantage of. Stay away.

Alcal Contractors were life savers! Not only are they our go to insulation company (also does garage doors) for my work, but on a person note they tended to my dad's garage door as it was on its last hinge. A call was put into them one day and the next day they were out to repair it. Martin did a great job to make sure all aspects of the door was looked at and repaired. Thanks for the amazing service Martin!!

This is the company I will recommend to friends for services regarding garage doors. Martin Ramirez Jr. , Field superintendent, arrived on time and solved the problems immediately. He also shares the knowledge of maintenance friendly and professionally.

Called three times. I was transferred around from operator to operator to have the call dropped. The last one said they don't answer the phone because they leave the office at 4P. When I told her it was 3:40P, her response was, ""I know.""
So what does that mean?
Ridiculous business. I was trying to provide business to local providers.
When people are calling to give you their money, you should be able to answer the phone. If you can't, then no one will trust you to do work on their home or business. There's pages and pages of people doing this kind of work. Look elsewhere.

Woke up without power from PG&E, and the garage door decided to go partially off the rails while being manually opened (loose springs), in a precarious way that almost crashed down onto the cars. Alcal had done the original contract work installing the garage door, so I gave them a call to explain the emergency. Within 20 minutes, I received a callback that someone would come take a look between 1-3pm.
Lo and behold, at exactly 1pm, field superintendent Martin arrived. This was a pleasant surprise -- when was the last time any contractor arrives at the start of a promised time window?! He took a quick look, got out the tools, and the door was back in shape in 15 minutes. He also tightened the spring tension, lubricated all the joints, and shared tips on garage door maintenance. Since there was no power, he left his contact in case there was any trouble reattaching the garage opener once the power returned.
Hours later when PG&E finally got their acts together, I reattached the opener. It opened the door just fine, but had trouble closing it. I gave Martin a call (this was during off-hours) and left a message, to which he immediately called back. He explained that this was due to the tightened springs requiring more force from the opener to close the door, and walked me through the magic button mashing to make the opener ""learn"" the new force required. 2 minutes later, the garage door was fully functional.
This was possibly the best experience I've ever had working with a contracting company. Martin was friendly, professional, and definitely knew his stuff. I would not hesitate to work with him again.

update 7 months to complete the garage door correctly! At Least its complete. Incredible lost of time off work with many visit and one time they no showed , in my opinion did not stand behind their work if it was a drag out fight between builder and company to get it done right with consumer left frustrated. I know if I did not close the escrow it would have been done 6.75 months ago. Sadly !

Martin and Kelly are GREAT! My garage door was broken so I called Alcal in the morning. Kelly called me back promptly and she was able to schedule me in that same day! Martin came over to repair my garage door and fixed it promptly and efficiently while also offering tips to prolong its life. I am so pleased with the service and would highly recommend them.
