Steve and his crew of 10 replaced the roof on my 1,500 square foot house in 2002 in the Southbay, and it still looks new. It feels new also because I walk on it occasionally. The price was neither high nor low for a 30 year shingle. He was on site and finished in three days. California style roof valleys. I have been recommending him for years.

Steve Shepard of AGL Roofing Co. was one of three contractors I contacted for a roof replacement estimate, and he and his company, AGL, were my final choice. Steve was excellent to work with. He was interested and responsive to my roofing concerns and questions regarding the roofing build requirements, city codes and permit requirements, the roofing product manufacturer and warranty. Steve doesn't ""just send out a crew"". Before, during, and at completion of the roof replacement, Steve visited on-site and when not on-site, always returned my calls ASAP. This was a great project and if you are looking for a GREAT contactor and crew, I highly recommend Steve and AGL Roofing Co.

If you are looking for an honest person that truly looks out for your best interest then you have found it with AGL Roofing My home insurance requested that I explore roof repairs and/or replacement of the roof based on some faulty pictures. I proceeded to get roof estimates across a number of roofing companies. Many of them didn't bother to really evaluate the roof and provided detailed estimates on how to replace my roof. Steve was a breathe of fresh air since he really took the time to evaluate the roof, inspect any gaps, and even call the city department to find out prior information about our roof. He spent a good hour with me walking through his assessment. His final assessment was that I didn't need to do any work and my roof had a long life ahead. He proceeded to offer advice on how to engage with the insurance company to help with my situation.

Having just bought the house, this was a great relief since our funds were already depleted . We have dealt with our fair share of bad contractors and money hungry people that wanted to earn the buck. It's really hard to find a HONEST person that you can really TRUST. I will definitely recommend Steve to others and he has won me a customer for life.

My husband Robert and I recently had our roof re-done by AGL Roof Company. We called AGL and spoke to the owner, Steve Shepard based on a recommendation from a friend. AGL was one of four estimates we received and all were close in price, but the minute Steve came to measure our roof, I knew they were the right company to do the job. We actually didn't even meet him when he came out to do the measurements, but their professionalism set them apart from the other companies we received estimates from. Steve left a folder with very detailed information regarding the process, what to expect (the mess), information regarding the company, references and he also left shingle samples and underlayment samples to choose from. Steve also was very responsive in returning phone calls to answer questions we had.

Steve's staff that installed our roof were awesome as well. His office contacted us the Friday before our roof was to be installed to confirm our order and to confirm the date and time of the install. The installers showed up on schedule, were polite and respectful of our home, cleaned up after themselves and our new roof is beautiful. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking to replace the roof on their home, you will not be disappointed.

AGL Roofing delivers what they say - A Great Looking Roof & we definitely recommend!
We recently had a windstorm that brought to our attention that we needed a new roof sooner than later. We got 3 estimates & prices were close but we made our decision based on the company we were most impressed with - AGL Roofing. Steve came out & inspected our roof. He presented us with a very professional & detailed estimate in a packet full of information & references. He advised us that our roof had been damaged by the severe winds & we should report a claim to our homeowner insurance company. Steve helped us present the situation to the company & although they did not pay for the entire roof, they did pay for replacing the damaged area. It was very helpful to us since we had not anticipated a new roof at this time. We were impressed with Steve & his crew who truly worked as a team efficiently & diligently. They arrived early & always put in a full day's work & cleaned up at the end of the day. The entire project was completed in 3 days & final cleanup was very thorough. Steve is conscientious & makes sure that his company provides an outstanding level of service. After spending a lot of time researching the various types of roofing materials, I decided to get GAF's top-of-the-line Grand Canyon architectural shingles. My new roof was to be the final (and most important) step in completing a total remodel of my house. Because Grand Canyon shingles are more difficult to install than regular shingles, I needed someone with the expertise to install them. My goal was to get the best roofing job that I possibly could. I wanted the installation to be done according to factory specifications. I got 5 bids and decided to go with Steve Shepard and AGL Roofing Company. Steve is a Factory Certified GAF Master Elite Contractor. One of the advantages of hiring a Master Elite contractor, is the entire crew must be trained by GAF. They must keep current with the latest installation techniques. GAF requires them to use their complete roofing system to better protect the home. Some of the bids I received were less, some were more. Steve was somewhere in the middle. But more importantly, I felt like Steve was able to do the best job. That was the deciding factor.

In addition to a new roof, I also needed to improve the ventilation in my attic. I had specific airflow calculations I wanted to incorporate using various types of roof venting. I needed a crew that would work with me to get this new venting system installed. Steve and his crew were very accommodating. They were patient and helpful as we measured and determined the locations for the new vents. Steve also recommended some changes that we incorporated into the final design.

I am a very picky person. I expect my project to turn out exactly the way I want it to. I was on site, watching the crew the entire time they were working at my house. I was impressed by the fact that the crew members were genuinely interested in pleasing me. We had decided that ""charcoal"" color was a better match than ""black"" for the metal flashings. The foreman already had some charcoal paint; however, he decided to make a special trip to ABC Supply to get a different charcoal color that he thought would be a better match. He also decided to install shingles over the O'Hagin vent covers to help camouflage them. He did that without asking. It was totally unexpected. He proudly showed me how much better the vents looked that way. I worked side by side with the crew when it was time to strategically locate and install the vents (12 of them). Everything turned out exactly the way I had it on my plans.

I remember halfway through my job, I discovered that the O'Hagin vents that were delivered to the job site were black instead of charcoal. Much to my dismay, none of the roofing suppliers in my area had the charcoal ones in stock. Steve managed to work a deal with the sales manager at one of the local roofing supply companies. The sales manager drove all the way out to Oxnard to pick up the 12 vents in charcoal and then he personally delivered them to the job site. Oxnard is a significant distance from my house. Steve really went the extra mile to give me exactly what I wanted. I really appreciate that they did this for me.

Here are some of the things that were very important to me: The workers always showed up on time. The job was completed in the time-frame promised. Steve always answered my calls or returned my calls promptly. Steve worked with me to achieve the vision I had for the project. His prices are fair. The quality of the material and workmanship is outstanding. I have lifetime warranty. I have comfort knowing that if I ever need help in the future Steve will be there since I am now his customer.

And one last thing - Now I don't have to worry about my roof anymore since the job was done right using the best materials. It is nice to have some piece of mind.

Steve Shepard and his excellent crew of AGL Roofing, (""A Good Looking Roof"") replaced our shingle roof in February, '16. We are very happy with both the process and the results! The guys were all professionals from beginning to end; there was not a wasted hour, everyone knew exactly what to do at every stage and did it. The preparation and clean-up was fast, and there was little harm to landscaping. There was a lot of wood around the edges and fascia board which had deteriorated; this they tore out and replaced. We had had a leak somewhere around a large window every time it rained for the last 30 years. Years ago we had tried replacing the flat roof above it and even replacing the window, but it still leaked. Steve tore out the exterior shingle walls and put new black paper, caulked around the window and replaced the exterior wall shingle; no more leak! He also replaced some deteriorated wall shingle where needed, and at a place where there was deterioration of wall shingle that was actually a type of faux-shingle paneling, even came back weeks later to install the new panels for us. He and his guys didn't have to do that, but they are perfectionists and professionals with a commitment to take care of all the roofing plus needs of their customers, at a very good price. I couldn't have had a better experience and new roof!

Steve Shepard and his crew completed a roofing project at our home approximately three weeks ago. Our positive experience with AGL began when Steve (the owner) came out to consult with my mother and me. My mother is elderly and frankly, people in various service industries tend to be very condescending and even a little rude towards her, hence my presence when these professionals show up to our home. Steve could not have been more friendly and professional in his approach and demeanor as he advised us on our best options. At some points, he even seemed to go out of his way to explain to us why some optional features were redundant or even slightly inferior (!) while saving us time and money in the process. Very impressive.

And his crew? They showed up on schedule, on time--even a little early, actually. They were both approachable and responsive in terms of any questions and/or concerns we had and any problems, which were always minor, were solved immediately and responsibly. Meanwhile, Steve was usually available on the phone very soon within the few times that I called him if he wasn't able to answer right then. As for their work, well, my neighbors were all astonished as to how efficient and expedient these guys were during the project, which was barely two days. Their clean up routine was positively spooky! Man, these guys didn't leave a splinter when they took off. Amazing. Really sound, quality and appealing work. The end result was amazing. The choice my mother made working with Steve was truly sterling. It really is reminiscent of traditional wooden shingles, only far superior in aesthetics and overall quality. AGL really did ""beautify"" our home.

We actually did encounter a problem when the crew ran into some significant structural damage courtesy of your friends and mine, termites. It was truly alarming; essentially the fellas had very inadvertently pulled up some rotted out, utterly damaged wooden veneer panels that lead right into our den. The foreman and two other members of the crew immediately addressed the problem by explaining in good detail what caused the damage and therefore, what lead up to the breakage. Not only did they IMMEDIATELY repair the damage, which I reiterate was not attributable to them, but by early the next day, they had amazingly matched the very dark brown (sort of an 'espresso') color of the original paint of our ceiling. A truly terrific save by a truly terrific team. Steve returned my call very quickly and assured me that everything would be under control and everything certainly was. Very nice, indeed.

Honorable mention must go out to Jazmine, Steve's executive assistant and overall ""head of logistics"", in terms of all the boring and redundant bureaucratic paperwork and inspections that simply must be dealt with before, during and after the project. She was very friendly, really responsive and truly professional.

Overall, our experience with Steve and his entire extended team was very satisfying. I can recommend AGL Roofing Company for any and all of your roofing needs. He gets it: It's not just your house, it's your home and he and his team are very respectful of that. Steve Sheppard is one contractor who is the real deal: Honest, ethical, hard-working and not satisfied until he and his entire team bring it home for the big win. AGL all the way.

After a horrible experience with a builder who did a major remodel for me, I asked Steve to come out and inspect the roofing work that had been part of the remodel. Almost everything the original builder had done was low quality and in the case of the roof, just done wrong. Steve took the time to explain why the roof was already showing signs of leaking and explained how it should have been done. After I hired him, he was on the job site everyday and even coordinated with the stucco company to make sure the work the two companies were doing wouldn't interfere or damage the other's. As I see it, the roof is the one thing standing between your home and the elements so it should be done right. I couldn't be happier with AGL, though from what I can tell I may not need a roofing company again for 30 or so years...
