AGF Roofing is a family run business that focuses on quality, thoroughness and customer satisfaction!

Alvaro, the owner, showed up on time for the roof inspection for a chimney leak and fallen roof tiles caused by the strong Bay Area winds earlier this year. He reviewed what repairs were required and also advised on roof maintenance issues I was not aware of and clearly explained why each work item was required. A written, reasonable quote was emailed on time with a detailed, itemized work list, including pictures of the discussed repairs.
I had over 5 larger roofing companies consistently quote a minimum of $5K for the small repairs required, but AGF quoted a fair price of more than half that amount and did more maintenance work than the big roofers offered.

His brother Hugo promptly did the repairs on the agreed upon schedule, toiling through a 90F hot day without a lunch break, but completed the job in one day. However, Alvaro later returned for a final walk through and unexpectedly completed some other minor repairs which Hugo could not do due to lack of replacement parts, work which could have been left undone if Alvaro was disreputable since I did not care to walk on the roof to check the work! Kudos for Alvaro's commitment to his word and thoroughness!

Maria and Estella also promptly replied to all my emails and text inquiries, providing pictures of all completed repairs and coordinating contract details.

Pablo and David were great listeners and solved any issues quickly and efficiently. Going from tar and gravel to TPO, the roof looks great and my house is about 5 degrees cooler after their installation. A very professional and competitively priced company.

I've worked with Alvaro and Maria a few times in the past to fix our leaking roof. They've always done a great job with reasonable prices. They're very busy, so sometimes it could take a few reminders for them to send the technician out for smaller jobs, but they've never failed to prioritize major fixes for me.

After the very wet winter 2022-23, my husband and I decided to get a new roof. We had no leaks in our old roof, but my husband who knows way more about home maintenance than I do, said that the shingles have become ""shiny"" and so we looked forward to getting a new roof for our house during the summer of 2023. We initially had plans to do new roof and solar, but when the quotes came back to us, we were not ready to plunk down that kind of cash in one summer. We decided to do roof only and see how it holds up for wet season or two before installing solar.

We got about 3 quotes and AGF's quote was more affordable, but it was Alvaro's expertise and thoroughness that really sealed the deal for us. We are the type of people who aren't looking for the cheapest job...we want quality workmanship over anything because we have the intention of living in our home forever (my husband and I both come from families in which our parents are still in our childhood homes), and just want the work done with professionalism and integrity. We have pride in ownership of our house and take the upkeep of our house very seriously. My husband doesn't even want to hire anyone to mow our lawns, because he doesn't think anyone will do it to his standard. We chose AGF because Alvaro had great knowledge and vision, and of course is licensed.

Ultimately, we decided to get a 40 year roof and new gutters done, which was all detailed in our quote/proposal. They began the work demoing and did a good job with that. The next few days they were installing the underlayment and shingles. I thought best to double check with them that they were installing 40 year shingles. Come to find out they did not install 40 year shingles. They were in the middle of installing 30 year shingles. Alvaro told me that they don't make 40 year shingles in the color I wanted. That would have been wonderful to know prior to them installing and delivering the shingles. However, Alvaro made an attempt to rectify the situation. He said he would uninstall what's there and if we wanted, we can choose a different color and he would do the 40 year shingles (at no extra cost to me). Now, we really liked the color and figured it was fine that we ""settle"" with 30 year.

In the end, we have a new roof and there were bumps in the road other than what was mentioned above (mostly superficial - gutters installed crookedly, exposed screws, some damaged soffit - not sure if that is what it is called, but the underside of the roof, that the eaves attach to) and AGF did always address our concerns with patience and solutions. I can't say that I give an A grade to the workmanship of all the employees that worked on my roof. What would have made this experience or any experience 5 stars would have been if I never even had to address superficial concerns, AND if Alvaro stayed on site the entire time his employees were working on my roof. In my opinion, he is the one who is licensed and not them, even if they are trained under him. I did not know that Alvaro would not be at our house to supervise most of the time. The time Alvaro spent at my house when the demo and installation began would approximately be between 30 minutes to 2 hours each day. I have nothing against his employees' hard work, I was hoping I would have employees who are very detail oriented and handle's someone's home with care that I feel could be improved upon. I know there are a lot of people out there who don't intend on living in a house for many years, or people who own many properties, or people who flip homes, so those close up details are not that important. But to us, it reassures us that the workmanship and the integrity of the product installation is of outstanding standard. NOTE TO SELF: ALWAYS ASK IF THE PERSON WHO IS QUOTING THE WORK, IS DOING THE WORK OR WILL BE SUPERVISING.


Ultimately, it ends up making me feel uneasy and not super confident about how the roof was installed if there are pretty simple things that go unnoticed, even if they are superficial. Maybe my husband and I are too Type A, and there is too much information on the internet to go down a rabbit hole with. Communicating with Alvaro and Maria was always very easy and they were patient. I hope that it turns out that we are those annoying homeowners with anxiety issues, but I promise we are not the type to get over on any ""small"" business by bargaining or nickel and diming (we didn't negotiate the price even after the 40 year shingle became 30 years), we are just looking for quality, detailed work that was promised to us because the peace of mind is the most important thing, and I chose AGF because of their excellent Yelp reviews. Ultimately, we just want a roof that lasts us 25+ years and no worries along the way. BUT ANYWAY, IF WE HAVE NO ISSUES WITH THE ROOF IN THIS RAINY SEASON, I'LL COME BACK AND CHANGE MY REVIEW TO 5 STARS. If issues arise, I'll update with those issues. So for now 4 stars...

Everyone was very professional. I appreciate Maria texting me back and forth. Very effective communicator. The crew did a beautiful job. Alvaro was very nice and very helpful in explaining things. The price was fair and the job was done faster than I expected. They are my forever roofing go-to if I ever need another job in Fremont and the surrounding areas.

Nice job. I have a combination tile and flat foam roof that needed repair. They did both. All the other roofers I called either did tile or flat but not foam, and not both. AFG did both. They inspected the roof the following Monday after I called and repaired it that same week. Very pleased.

AGF was professional, competitively priced, and extremely responsive and was able to get the job done on time and during preferred hours for our tenants. Maria and Alvaro were amazing to work with, and helped us select a great color for our roof. They used top of line materials and cleaned up afterwards, including color matching the paint and flashing. As part of the roof replacement, their team even replaced water damaged and termite damaged plywood. Would highly recommend and will be using AGF for other clients and properties down the road.
