Hired this ""pro"" via Thumbtack for a fence repair. The guy who shows up (Charles)to do the estimate IS NOT the person who does the work (or even knows how to do the work). He is rude and does NOT follow through when there are issues. After paying him $700 for a gate rebuild (way overpriced), here I am months later paying someone else to fix the crap that he did. This is a complete scam. I sent Charles $1000 back in Feb of 2022. He seemed very professional and easy to work with. He send me a professional statement of work with a reasonable quote for the work required. He included sending me the documents for the permit as part of that work. He was on top of everything when it came to getting the down payment to begin the work; however, once the $1000 was paid to him to start the work he became as useless as he could be. Additionally, when sending him money through Zelle it did mark is account as suspicious and potential fraud and I should have stopped right there.

The documents were never worked on, he lied and kept saying they would be delivered, and I followed up week after week. He kept lying to me and then offered to give me my money back (but never actually asked where to send the money too). He then offered to send over a document to wrap up the permit process and he still missed that deadline.

One random night I forced him to send me something and he finally sends me a document, when I looked at it - I realized it was just a copy of one he did before, the deck measurements were all wrong and it had the wrong number of posts. He lied again.

Then he said he'd hire a third party service and he paid money for it (another lie) and they would get the document to me. Nothing arrived. At this point Charles has ceased communications with me. I've begun legal preceding with him (even though it's just $1000) Charles should never be allowed to work in this industry for the scam he's pulling.

Charles is really unprofessional from many fronts and the headache of having to build the case is worth it if no one else will have to use Charles again for any work. He's absolutely the single worst person I've worked with in my entire life.

If you're thinking about hiring him, I would quickly look elsewhere for a more reputable character. Charles is not it.

TL;DR - Charles stole $1000 from me, promised to do work, missed all the deadlines and lied about doing it. Then just stopped communication forcing my hand into a legal issue.

I hired Charles in May of 2022 for porch repairs, deck repairs, to paint the front of our home, install flashing, and replace 2 windows. He was fast to respond, met us in our home, wrote up the contract overnight, and took our deposit all within a couple of days. His carpentry crew came out quickly and did good work while they were here the first week, but then never returned to complete the work or paint. Charles told us his carpenters and painters ghosted him and he would get another carpenter and painters out to our home to compete the work- but never did. For FIVE months he kept promising us ""next week,"" and it still hasn't happened. We gave up 4 weeks ago and just requested our deposit ($1000) for the flashing and painting be returned. He stated he would return our deposit ""within 30 days by mail"" but still has not done so. We were left without new windows, without flashing, and with unpainted incomplete work. He is now not responding to our calls and texts, and we have not received our deposit back. He will bend over backwards to get your money, but don't expect much once he has it.

Do not use this man Charles is very responsive in selling a job but when it comes down to the work and craftsmanship he gets an F I had him to repair a retainer wall he did not do everything he said he was going to do work is very sloppy I had to get another contractor to come out and redo what he did when I contacted him he said he would come out and make the corrections I never heard from him again

Charles was prompt to show up to quote the project and collect the $1700 deposit. The project was expected to start two weeks from signing, which was the end of December. It is now the end of March and all I've received is excuses as to the delays. I've requested a refund of my deposit and at first received additional excuses on a delay to provide the refund and now he has stopped responding completely. It has been a month since I requested a refund. Terrible business practices.

Another dissatisfied customer with Charles Thruston made a commitment to repair my deck and failed to fulfilled his commitment, due to his failure to the contract we signed with him that he failed to uphold, we requested a refund from him but he constantly gives us excuses weeks after weeks, still waiting for our refund, even when we call him he redirects all my calls to his voice mail to avoid answering my calls, he continues to make promises to pay us weekly that promise was made January 7, 2022 we are in the last week of March and still waiting for our refund , why did he take our money and use it and can't pay us back like he promise, be careful who you hire to work for you, don't get scam.

I had to move a shed that was
"" encroaching"" my neighbors property and had to move it in order to get permit to start a project on my house. Before I got off phone with home advisors I got a call from Charles, he was very polite and seems to know what he was about. He and Jeff showed up on the day we agreed and I was impressed with the job Jeff did in one day all by himself. Two others completed the remainder of demolition I couldn't believe a shed was on the spot when they finished. I will definitely call Charles and his team if I need them in the future and recommend them to anyone needing their services.

Charles Thruston is a dishonest and conniving scumbag. Please beware of this guy and his company. I found this guy here on Home Advisor and called him out to look over my deck that was previously done by another incompetent contractor also found here. The previous contractor A & C Painting and Remodeling I hired to build an elevated screened in deck. Well, they started the project but stop coming out and left my project incomplete. Charles came over appearing very professional (which he is very convincing) and reassure me that he can complete my project. He showed me pictures of other projects they did, and they were very nice. He said that he has multiple people and that they can complete my project within a week. He said that he will have one of his guys to come out to price the job. The gentlemen came out and said that he can definitely do the project and he will get with Charles to discuss the cost. Charles said that they can do it for $5700, which was a little more than what I expected but agree. Charles came over a couple days later with contract and said that they will start Nov 8th. Fast forward Nov 8th come and no call or no show. The next day... same thing. I called Charles and he said that his guys were working another project and it was taking them longer than usually. I became a little concern, but Charles said that they will be out here next week. Next Monday come... no show or call. Waited a couple days and called again. This time Charles 3-way me with his builder who then said that he won't be able to come out to my project until first week of December. I again became concerned, but Charles said that he will discount the job because of the delay. The contractors showed up the second week of December. I came outside to rake my yard and noticed one of their trucks parked in my yard. I went over to discuss the project and noticed the guys were smoking weed in the truck. The gentlemen both rushed out the truck and one of the guys said that they were getting ready to work on the deck. I said OK but not really OK if you know what I mean. They started breaking down the stairs and left a mess on the side of my house. They said that they will remove by end of project. The next day only one guy showed up and only removed the panels on the deck and started adding rails to the stairs. Then he left a few hours later. The next day no one showed up. I waited a couple of days and I called Charles to see what was going on. Charles said that they were working on another project, but he will see when they will be back out to my house. Charles later called me back and 3-way John, who is the builder, on the call. John stated that he is still on another project and don't know when they will be back out. I then ask Charles what we are going to do. Charles said that he will try to John out there next week. Next week come and no show. Called Charles again this time he said that he can get him out to my house Thursday. Again, no show. Called Charles and he said that he can have John out next Thursday. I said no! He needs to be here tomorrow morning (Friday) and project complete next Tuesday. Charles said he will see. Friday come and no show. Called Charles once again and he said I told him not to go because they were still on another project. At this point, I said that I no longer need his service and requested a refund. I said that I will allow them to keep $1200 of the $3200 since they half did the stairs but left all the debris on the side of my house. Charles agreed. The following week I reached out to Charles and asked where my refund. He tried to belittle me and say that why I'm so concern over little bit of money. I said because you guys did not complete what you said, and you were to send me my $2000. He tried to say that I only gave him $2000 but later prove that I gave him $3200 check. He then said that I had to wait to December 28 to get my refund. I waited to December 30th and contacted Charles to find out what happen to my refund, and he said that he mailed it. I don't know about you, but I know that it does not take a week to mail something if you live in the same metropolitan area. Now its January 6th and I have not received my refund. And now I believe I will not get my money back. Please stay away from this guy and his company. I will continue to pursue justice until I'm paid what I'm owe.
