I would like to share a message to anyone needing to have a a new roof installed, Advance Roofing Systems is the company people need to know about , excellent work done, removed all layers of old roof, replaced many damaged, rooted, old facia ,rafter,eve wood board, and installed a beautiful new GAF composition asphalt roof, also rolled and touched down patio flat roof, excellent hagen Low profile venting system, my attic has Dropped 10 degrees from my old system, clean and neat work performed . We loved our experience with Advanced Roofing Systems. It was an uncertain time for - we were getting ready for the arrival of Baby #3 and discovered a roof leak that lead to mold remediation and a need for new flooring, so we had a lot going on. We also decided to replace the entire room and I shopped around A LOT. Finally settling on Advanced Roofing Systems was the best decision we made. They were so patient with us, so understanding, and so helpful. After meeting with me, they came back out AGAIN to speak to my husband about everything they'd just told me about. They explained the process, made everything so easy, and were upfront about everything going on. Replacing our whole roof was huge and a new experience for us. They made it super easy, affordable, and exactly what we needed without skimping on anything.

They came on the day that they said. Roof was removed and installed same day. Cleanup was complete. Roof looks great. I had three exams of roof and this was the only one that actually went up and photographed the need for replacement. The others just looked from ground and said that I needed a new roof.

From a fairy tale to a nightmare

I couldn't just leave it like that, until I decide what further steps to take! Leaving this review right here despite Carlos's ""warning"" that he'll be forced to charge us money for taking up his time. Yes, you heard it right. That's the treatment you're gonna get AFTER you fully pay them. You will also be labeled as their adversary and told to stop writing to them, just because you dare to ask for clarification. 
This snappy response was borderline disturbing -- a stark contrast between a nice and polite tone in the beginning, BEFORE we signed the contract! 
Carlos (the owner) acted like the most courteous professional at first, patiently welcoming us to ask aaaaas many questions as we'd like, because (as he said!), we are the customers and we have a right to know everything! 
And so, we went with this company (even though it was far from being the cheapest), because they seemed to have the most important qualities we were looking for in the contractor. Namely, someone who was HONEST and EASY TO COMMUNICATE WITH, which is what we thought we were getting!
We did ask quite a few questions during our in-person meeting, as we wanted to know all the options we had, with and without certain components included. When all seemed clear and discussed, we settled on getting a brand new roof (with everything new). The brand name of the material was good, guys were working fast, and we certainly were happy and excited about the fact that after almost thirty years, we are finally getting a brand new roof ! 
So, where did it go south? It happened weeks after the project was finished and fully paid for. We were raving to all our friends, family, and neighbors about our new beautiful roof. Browsing through photos (posted online by the company), our friend asked us in surprise how come we didn't want to have our metal flashing changed? We in turn got confused by his question, because not only did we WANT IT CHANGED, but we clearly discussed it with Carlos before signing the agreement. To make sure that nothing was misunderstood, our friend actually climbed the roof and took up-close photos of the mentioned flashing, which we shared with Carlos along with our questions and concerns. 
Aaaaand this is when a fairy tale turned into a nightmare! After dodging our question a few times and going around in circles and not answering our specific question (but instead referring to a different flashing that was changed), he finally confirmed that they did NOT in fact change the metal, because it was not easy. 
Hmm. Weren't we supposed to be informed about that at some point in time? I mean I understand you can sometimes make mistakes or not notice things right away. Just like Carlos grossly miscalculated a number of fans needed for the optimal support of our roofing system, and instead of seven or eight, he only thought it required two. But at least he told us about it. And even though it didn't seem fair to pay for someone else's mistake, we still agreed to it. After all, you don't do your roof every day, and we wanted everything done properly! 
But when it came to this metal flashing, nothing was mentioned nor were we ever notified about any issues associated with changing it. All we knew and agreed on from the start that it will be changed and that installation was included in the cost. Naturally, we were surprised (to say the least) when we discovered that it was the opposite of what we were promised. 
And we trusted this company so blindly, it didn't even occur to us to doubt anything they said, let alone did. We even agreed to them doing their own self-inspection instead of it being done by the city. Which I totally blame myself for, that I didn't do enough research! Had I taken the time to read another Yelp review, I would have learned that they don't pass city inspections time and time again. But of course they ""successfully passed"" it when it came to our roof, while leaving us TOTALLY in the dark about a very important portion NOT being done. Which is absolutely unacceptable, no matter how you slice it! 
What was even more unacceptable was the way Carlos handled it, when we pointed it out and asked for an explanation! He went as far as accused our friend (who discovered the unchanged flashing) of POISONING us against their company. LOL? Our friend has absolutely no gain in this! Plus, don't we, as customers, have a right to ask questions? That's certainly what we were made to believe during our initial meeting! And now, all of a sudden, Carlos was shocked that we were upset about NOT being told that part of work was not done (with us having no say in it!), that we were deprived of a chance to explore other options, and that we were NOT asked whether we're ok with proceeding this way! 
To make things worse, we can't even have this flashing fixed on our own, if we were to hire a specialist! Because as Carlos warned us, if anyone else touches anything, our warranty will be nullified.

Knowing our roof would not take another El Nino winter, we received several bids and decided on Advanced Roofing Systems to re-roof our house. They let us know what the new options were in Lakewood, and gave us a fair competitive quote.
Products where readily available. They worked with our Air Conditioning to make sure there would be no problems and the roof was completed in 4 days. (One day was repairs from water damage and reworking a poor job done by the previous contractor Ouch!).
Re-roofing a house is not an easy thing to do, and I would like to thank Carlos Castillo our project manager and all the staff for making it go as smoothly as possible. Great communications by phone and email.
We now feel very confident coming into the tough winter season we will be secure and if there are any problems ARSI will be there to make it right. (4.5 Stars)
