We had a terrible experience dealing with Acker Roofing. I'm so amazed by the many positive reviews they had, but we didn't experience that at all. They had so many delays and they lacked proper communication.
They started the job on October 5th and didn't finish till November 8th. More than a month for this job. I understand sometimes materials don't arrive on time, or something was missed, but not to this extent. The job is to replace the existing shingles, put a new decking, and take out a chimney stack and replace it with a skylight.
We really didn't know when they would show up, or when they were waiting on materials to be delivered. We had to contact the office to ask about the progress of the job. They did update us, then they added ""the worker should've told you"", which they didn't. They also left the dumpster in the driveway for more than 2 weeks with no work; again no communication about it. There was a week or so of no one showing up, so we asked the office about it. They blamed it on the city permits. They stated that they didn't word it right, and they didn't include the skylight permit... even though that's what we agreed on from the start. Again, we had to ask for an update.
Another delay was that they ordered the wrong skylight.. Even though one of them came inside the house to check which one to order. Also, stated that they will paint to match the roof around the skylight. After they finished the skylight, we asked them if someone was coming to paint. The office stated that they don't come inside the house and paint. Yet, from the start they said they would.
On top of that, they would ask us to pay before finishing the job. On the contract it states that there we pay a deposit, 50% when they start the job, and 50% when they finish. They also wanted us to pay something we didn't agree on. Once we contacted the office to verify, they said they sent the wrong payment request by mistake.

I don't recommend this company; it is terribly managed. Spend your money somewhere else and hopefully have peace of mind.

I have a leak in the area of my chimney. Acker Roofing was very prompt and responsive in addressing the issue. The charge was fair, and the technicians very knowledgeable.
We don't know yet whether the first efforts were successful, but I appreciated the two-step approach--try sealing and patching before trying the more invasive and more expensive exploratory work next summer, if there is still a leak this winter.

We had an unexpected leak this past spring during the extra heavy rains due to a patio cover not being tied in correctly years ago. Acker Roofing was the only company who was responsive and would give us a quote. Although it was more expensive that the ""guys in a truck"" was, I felt reassured when they were able to explain what the problem was, how it would be repaired, and most importantly, how it would be fixed so that the problem wouldn't recur. The crew was so kind, apologetic when it took one extra day (NOT a big deal at all), and I would ultimately recommend them to anyone else, and use them again, should the need arise.

Acker did a really great job on our roof as far as I can tell. The roof looks great. They were not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. I was not happy with some of the gutter work but they sent someone out right away to fix it. They were also very fast in getting the warranty paperwork submitted. I would use them again and I would recommend them. The office staff, and all workers that worked on the house were very responsive and very nice.

These folks were cost effective and punctual; but the best part was the incredible high quality job that they did. Their pride in craftsmanship was evident throughout the job. I intend to call Acker Roofing first if I have any other roofing issues arise.

Dustin did a great job on following up and inspecting final
roofing himself . It is rarely impossible for an owner
to find little items to finish up. It gave us peace of mind.
The salesperson, Justin, did a very good job of explaining our
options and not upselling or crosselling. Additionally, he encouraged
us on our choices where the value and quality was hands down
the way to go.

They are also very good at not selling you on consealed damage.

I really liked the new technology and improvements.

Aker has competitive pricing at the very best warrently.

There contract, clear and consice and I have a contract
background. In other firms where we had bids they
did not even understand what they wrote as be careful
of anything not easily understandable.

We had a small leak in our roof after all of the storms in 2023. They had someone come out and found a tile was cracked and he was able to find a fix that saved us thousands of dollars. Great company, very ethical, and responsive!!
