After months and months of searching for the right company to take care of my roof, I'm so glad I made the decision to go with ABI CONSTRUCTION! Sam was also great and friendly at answering my concerns about permits and the whole cool roof system! The crew was in and out in 4 days! We had the representative out for over 3 hours, made it clear I wanted an estimate, he did a good inspection however he took a long time to give us the ""bottom line"" estimate. We were not ready to commit, and wanted to think it over; however he insisted we sign to commit to the project and became more irritated when I declined to commit. Exercise caution when having these people come to your house, never be alone with them. Have family there with you.

I contemplated very much wether or not to write this review.
After much thought, I decided to do so, but be fair.
My intentions are to neither encourage or discourage someone from using ABI Construction, simply to give an honest, non judgemental review of their recent roofing work of my home.
With that said, I also decided to be specific, and use names without the intention to talk bad of anyone, as I do not know them personally. It's strictly business, and when reading a review, I would hope that is what I'd read.

So I contacted ABI because of a mail flyer I received. What stood out was that they offered financing. Which was necessary for my situation as I did not have $15,000 or more to spend on a much needed roof. I contacted them and within an hour had an appointment for an estimate from a man named ""Tony""... That was the last I heard of him.
The following Monday, Eli showed up. A very pleasant, respectful and knowledgeable person.
He got on the roof, in my attic, and within 20 mins, had an informative and thorough estimate for me.
Needless to say, it was much more than I ever imagined. $34,991.
Now, I am not a roofer, I am more like a ""Jack of all trades"".... I know a little bit of everything, but not enough any one thing. So, I did understand why it was so much. Also, I do realize it's a reputable, professional company who uses quality, reputable material. And, 50 year shingles, 25 year transferable warranty. Also, 10 years of yearly inspections by ABI. So, with that, yes, it is worth $34,991.
He quickly called ""Iris"" at their financing place, let her know I was the son of the owner, and very quickly approved me(us) for up to $100,000.... Also, I must add that Eli honored a $750 discount which was advertised on the mail in flyer, AFTER he had given me the estimate. So, I felt he was trustworthy.
Mostly out of necessity, I quickly agreed to the terms and work.
The first negative point began when I got notified the very next day that they would be starting the coming weekend, when our agreed upon date was about three weeks out(February 17). This matters because I was to give $2,000 on starting date. I didn't have the money. However, Eli worked with me. He added that amount to the financing.....yes, it helps but it also added to my monthly payment. Anyhow, I agreed to it, and it did help me financially.
The workers showed up Saturday and had the whole roof removed in one day.
Part of the price was that it included ""all necessary wood replacement""....And that is based on the city inspector. Unfortunately, the inspector never got on the roof, or for that matter, looked up. I know that sounds weird, but the inspection was not done. That's on the city of Oxnard. Shame on him. He was here for five minutes and twenty seconds..... Just showed up and signed that he inspected. BB Y the way, unknown to him, I actually have that all on video. My house has 12 cameras. So, technically, wood replacement was basically up to the workers. Why does that matter? It makes the customer (me) think he is being cheated on the premise of the company wants to spend the least possible time and money on wood...... Could I be wrong? Yes. But that's just how I feel.... Am I blaming ABI? No. I blame the City of Oxnard inspectors. He did not do his job.. this includes both his inspections and their final inspection, they never One time got on the ladder and looked at the roof. Am I insinuating there is something illegal going on? No! Not ABI fault, strictly the city inspector.
So the roof was done in 4-5 days.
Was I completely happy? No.
Let's start with the work itself. It looks good, but there are a couple places that I just didn't like. One area, after talking to Eli, understood why it was white. So that ok. But other areas I think are tacky for a $34,000 job.
Now we meet ""David""... An apparent ""foreman""... More like a legit salesman.
I first met David when he came to pick up a check, and ""encourage"" me to write a review when the work was done.
He then came back when the work was done and needed me to sign final paperwork.
I want to be clear that I do not know this man personally, nor do I think he is a bad person.....but a people person, he is not. IM MY OPINION, he is abrasive, pushy, and a negative asset to the the company. I say that because on the day he came to get final signature, he was still trying to sell me rain gutters, and did not care about my concerns. When I voiced concern about not liking how some areas looked, his answer was: ""Nobody is going to see it"". I would like to add, that if there is any discrepancy to what I am accusing him off, I have it all on video with audio, and it is available upon request at any point to prove I am not making anything up. He also stated he would have charged $40,000 for the job.
The workers also left a lot of nails around and did not put back a lot of things. Overall, I'm not satisfied.

They did a great job. The workers are very professional, courteous and punctual. They worked quickly and always cleaned the job site before they left for the day. Jacob, the project manager, was very nice and professional as well. He always made himself available to answer any questions that we had.

Although we couldn't get the Night Sky color due to the city's strict ""cool roof"" code, we couldn't be more pleased with the professionalism and cleanup of the roof project from ABI. The Midnight was a good second option to getting a dark roof color. Jacob visited us frequently to make sure everything was going well and we really appreciated his attentiveness. Hope this helps anyone looking for a good roofing company.

Originally, we did not think we would need a new roof for another couple of years. During his sales presentation, Eli checked our attic and determined we had a recent roof leak. We went ahead and signed up with ABI in spite of what I felt was a fairly steep price.

The tear off and new roof install was done fairly quickly and I was impressed with how fast the product was delivered and installed. Eli told us how happy we would be with the cleanup during and following installation. However,, my wife and I found multiple pieces of roofing material and nails in and around our yard during and after the job. Fortunately, there were no flat tires caused by the ones found in the driveway and in the street.

Before, during and following the install, Jacob visited us many times and stayed in touch. The communications was a little less stellar with the office manager, Sam. He was very nice when I spoke with him, but never directly returned my calls. I was never quite sure when the workers would show up or return for some post install fixes. I know he is very busy wearing many hats, but not an excuse when it comes to communicating with the customer.

At this point, not sure if we will receive some kind of 50-year warranty certificate from ABI or Owens-Corning, but hope to get something like that in writing.

Overall, we are very happy with the end result and the relationship we developed with Jacob. My wife and I would recommend them for roofing projects.

I had some initial concerns about the painting done on my home several years ago. Recently this company seems to be much more focused on customer satisfaction, and they were out this month to do some follow up work to honor the warranty.

ABI Construction contacted me and offered to work with me to make up for any inconvenience that may have occurred in getting resolution in with my mother's roof repair. This was an awesome way to repair my confidence in their business. They agreed to come out and do whatever work was necessary to resolve a leak not caused by their company.
