Three basic things I always consider for when engaging a contractor, in order of importance:
1- Trustworthiness- This is always a subjective assessment, but probably the most important. You speak with them to assess your level of confidence in what they recommend and what they will do. How they will schedule the work, choice of materials, steps in performance of work, where they might encounter difficulties and responsiveness after completion of work.
2- Competence- They need to have the skills to perform the work, but more important, the knowledge to recognize problems and uncertain areas before they start.
3- Pricing- I place this last, because if the contractor doesn't pass the first two, you should look elsewhere. And if the contractor is honest, he is entitled to an honest profit.
I have a 2 story house with approximately 2,400 of metal shingle roofing installed over the original wood shake, all of which needed to be fully replaced. I obtained 5 quotes from roofing contractors. I was comfortable with 3 of the 5 quotes. Out of the three I decided to engage Jake. Although he was the youngest, he was also the most passionate and was backed by a stable work crew with decades of roofing experience. His pricing was not the lowest, but it was competitive. I made a good choice. The work was performed according to schedule, the crew was efficient, courteous and communicative, Jake was always available to answer any questions, clean up was done well and the new roof is beautiful.
It is with no hesitation that I recommend Jake and AA Roofing with a 5 star rating. He cares about doing a good job for the homeowner and it's refreshing to meet a contractor that will go the extra mile to look out for the homeowners interests.

Extremely happy working with Jake at AA Roofing. Very competitive pricing, super communicative and a very friendly and efficient team that did a fantastic job. We checked out 4 different roofers and these guys had the best proposal with a clear final price - no ""gotcha"" terms that leave you uneasy about future charges. Entire roof (~3k sq ft house with multiple skylights) was redone in a few days - all according to code and under warranty. Jake handled the permit and inspections, too. I only have one roof otherwise I'd work with them again if I could!

i got a few quotes on behalf of my 3 unit building HOA to replace the entire roof. jake and AA had the most competitive pricing and was the most responsive so we went with him. he gave us the option to use any shingle type from the major manufacturers.

I'm glad we picked AA because jake was extremely communicative throughout and delivered things on schedule. when his team was done, they cleaned up and it was like they were never there.

Jake was extremely easy to work with on our project. He was quick to respond to messages and handle communication easily between my mom and I. We had several bids on my mother's roof but Jake stood out from the rest of the bidders. His honest approach showed his knowledge about roofing and showed us what we needed to replace or fix rather than spending tons of money on something because of paint. His price was reasonable and fair compared to other bids.

Bonus points for being family owned business and being certified. We didn't have any problems with getting a permit. It was quick, smooth ride from start to finish. Jake even sent someone over to help triple check for nails with me. We are definitely happy decision to go with Jake.

What can I say - AA roofing is a great company that delivers with friendly, professional and prompt customer service. Their end product is beautiful and I am really glad we chose AA roofing.

I had a leak in the roof and it had been ""repaired"" prior by a couple of other companies. It was time to get a new roof. I obtained about 5 estimates and AA roofing was very competitive on their pricing. They were one of the only companies to follow up and to see how they could earn my business. The only other company to follow up as much as AA roofing was the outlier company whose estimate was 2x all the other 4 companies.

I received many updates, photos, and check ins from AA roofing throughout the process. I was given many ""bonuses"" that I am pretty sure other companies would have charged me for and I am most grateful and appreciative.

In summary - if you have read this far - I highly recommend AA roofing. I was nervous at first to go with them as they did not have as many yelp reviews as other companies. Jake explained that his ""old school"" dad did not go the ""Yelp route"" prior and business was by referral. But this day and age - you gotta get on yelp. So here we are - as promised - a beautiful end product with a great experience along the way and a full re-roof on a 4500 square foot house. Thank you Jake and AA roofing team!

Oh and please note - AA roofing made the City of Rolling Hills ""hurdles"" and ""committee meetings"" and contradictions soooo easy for me. Would definitely recommend them for any reroof but also for the City of Rolling Hills homes.

I used their services right before the rain came because I had a couple of major problems in my roof. I got into contact with Jake and he was very punctual and professional for our meeting. He went around the house and took some notes and asked questions so that he can get a better understanding of what was needed to get the job done in an efficient manner. After our initial conversation, he gave me an estimate and I told him that he can get started as soon as he can.

When he started the job, Jake and his team worked very quickly and professionally. While talking to him, he sounded like he was very passionate about what he was doing and you could tell that he knew what he was talking about. They finished the job faster than expected and they cleaned up after themselves.
