I would give this company a 1 star rating, except for 2 things - (1) Albert and his son are very nice and (2) The roof that they did so far seems to be still ok (at least after a couple of months). I feel bad about giving such a bad rating. However, I feel my experience would be helpful to other potential customers to be aware of and for the company to change its ways.

I had a bedroom with a leaking flat roof and Albert came out and gave me a very reasonable estimate to replace the roof. The bid included R33 insulation and a few other items. The job eventually took 2.5 days. The second day when they were finally setting up the roof, I went over to look at the work and I noticed that they were using just R8 rigid insulation. When I asked them about it, Albert first said that he could only use an R8 insulation for a flat roof and that we had never agreed on the R33 insulation. Then he looked at the contract and agreed to honor the R33 insulation that I had asked for.

I thought this was a 1-off thing and a simple misunderstanding. Later, I began to notice additional discrepancies between what he would say and the actual fact. It became such a pattern that I can/could no longer trust his word.

He also borrowed our stepladder without asking us and it ended up becoming covered in paint and he reimbursed us for that. There was also some sort of debris that was dumped in our garden, which I found a week later or so. The original bid was for the job to be done in 1-1.5 days. It eventually dragged on for 2.5 days. Overall, it left a sour taste in my mouth.

Albert and his crew recently completed a tear off and reroof at my home. They completed the project on time and were reasonably priced in comparison. The few issues/concerns that did arise got handled promptly and efficiently. I am happy with the work performed and the professionalism of how Albert handled all my questions and concerns. I'm in the Tile industry and my attention to detail is pretty high and I know I'm not the easiest to please. Albert and team pulled it off as I'm a satisfied customer that would recommend them to anyone in need of roofing services! Thank you again Albert and A 1 Budget roofing crew

A1 sealed some vents on our roof as I noticed one of them was leaking during a rain storm, into our attic. The repair kept water out throughout last winter's rain. Mission accomplished. Thanks! Also, he had it done super quick (same day as quote). If I ever have any other issues, I will call A1 for a quote.

We had a poor experience with A1 Budget Roofing. They were referred from a contractor. The work was substandard. They seemed more concerned about finishing the job as fast as possible, rather than doing it right. The finish work was poor. The trim in the front of the house was not straight and the flashing was protruding out at meeting points. It looked like amateurs had done the work. They didn't replace some of the damaged plywood above the deck. Worse yet, the roof continued to leak above the deck. We had another contractor come out, who pointed out that a section around the chimney wasn't repaired properly and was causing the leak.
A1 also replaced the roof to the guest house. We found out later they should have put down plywood before putting on the new roof. They didn't. We tried to call Albert for weeks to address the issues. No response. This is the first time I have felt compelled to write a negative review about a co. All Albert had to do was return a call and address the issues. The whole experience was extremely frustrating.

Great job! Quick estimate and set up time, Albert and his crew did everything they said they would. Took off old roof, put on vents, then put new roof on. Came early on a Monday and work was done by Wednesday morning. Would highly recommend!

I requested a quote from the company and the responded quickly to schedule the appointment for one week later for a quote. The person who was supposed to look at the work called me on the phone to let me know that my roof was too steep without even ringing my bell if he was even at my site. He did not look at the repair work with me to see where the repair was located but simply said that this company does not work on steep roofs. jm Carlsbad

These guys were really honest and friendly. When the owner came out and looked at my roof, he told me that it wasnt very bad a cheap ways to deal with the cracked tiles myself. I will definitely use them on the future!

His crew was efficient and the work site was clean at the end of each day. I can't say enough about the craftsmanship of the crew. In 2 1/2 days my eyesore roof was transformed. I recommend Albert and his team. Albert was straightforward and prompt. They did a great job on my two roofs. I texted Albert when I had water coming into my ceiling during the recent rain. It turned out there was no problem with the roof; it was a problem with stucco on the chimney. A-1 fixed the problem anyway. Thanks very much for your help, A-1.

Albert came out and gave us a ""no BS"" assessment of what was going on with our property and actually predicted the required labor and parts on the spot (which was cheaper and more direct than other quotes we got). It was clear that these guys take on a project with honesty and integrity, they didn't try to swindle us into unnecessary repairs and for that I'm ridiculously grateful. The work they did was fantastic and they were able to go above and beyond for the roof repair that we needed. Highly recommended.
