I live on the top floor of an apartment building where the roof was being repaired. In the course of changing the roof, they had to remove the skylights.
I had debris fall into my apartment, I had workers telling me where inside of my apartment I could be (breaking privacy laws), and when they reinstalled the skylights, they were obviously damaged.
I brought this up with the building HOA, but A-One had no consideration for the residents of the top floor apartments while they did their work.
I would give them less than one star... Now I'm waiting on the first rains to see how the skylight damage fairs...
Update: skylight was changed for a new one. Still bad service.
A-One replaced the roof on the condo building next to my 24-unit apartment building. In the process of taking off the old roofing material they dropped a fair amount of dust and small chunks of debris onto our side alley that runs the length of our building adjacent to their building (it's an emergency exit with fire escapes on two lightwells overlooking the alley). I went up onto our roof to look down on the fire escapes, didn't see any debris, maybe it all blew down into the alley with wind swirls? Anyway while I was up there I looked at the roof next door and it was spic and span, neat as a pin. They do nice work!
I communicated with an owner of the condo association and she escalated to their property manager, nothing happened. I put in a maintenance request with our own property manager, nothing happened. So I called A-One directly today, spoke with Maria, she said she'd talk to her crew supervisor about sending someone out. I told her they would need to communicate with me for access to the alley because it was behind a locked gate.
I kid you not, within ONE hour she had called me back to say a crew member would come out and would call me. An hour later Jesus arrived with a shop vac, I gave him access to the garage to plug in his 50' cord and he got to work. He spent about 30 minutes vacuuming the alley and did a great job. I could tell from his attitude that he wasn't just phoning it in, he cared to do it properly. And we're not even their customers!
BTW if you 're in San Jose, stop by K&J Sweets & Bakery which Jesus and his wife just opened at 115 East San Carlos Street (he told me about it when we were saying goodbye). They have great Yelp reviews.
Absolutely crap! if you see this review please do everything to avoid using this company. Minor leakage on our roof. Called them for repairing. Came and went on the roof and then disappeared. Not even a word of communication. As you can expect the leakage continued and caused a major damage of our ceiling. They charged $900 for their sloppy job. We called them and immediately they responded that "" your job was temporary and if you want and we will come to have a new quote for permanent repair. "". We lost confidence on them and hired a different contractor and it ended up that A-one did not find the right site to repair. The new contractor only charged $300 for the repair however we have to change a new ceiling which costs more than $1000. NO ONE Should USE THIS COMPANY!!!!
Curry Man X.Things kinda went to shit as key employees left in 2020 onwards. Slow to respond to emails. New estimators with limited email skills. Management and owner also decided to not take calls further compounding matters for future projects.
John A.My town home complex had water defects or something so several years ago they took the french doors off and unfortunately when they put them back on they have never worked the same. They came back to fix the problem a few times but turned out to be only a temporary solution unfortunately.
The folks at A-One Construction and Roofing are knowledgeable professionals who provide end-to-end quality service and work. From detailed proposal, to quality product, high-grade workmanship and customer-support.
I first learned of A-One when they came out to assess and provide a proposal for an industrial park in Fremont (CA) at which I am one of the building owners. I was curious about the issues at hand and was involved in the process of meeting with the different vendors. A-One spent the most time - compared to the other vendors - at the site. With each vendor I would at least join on more than a couple of the roof-tops. With A-One the attention to detail and the ensuing dialogue and iterative assessment of each and every building (a total of 7) was well beyond the ""average norm"".
Their assessment lead to a very detailed proposal for each building at very competitive pricing - especially for the type of roofing they had proposed. I researched the supplier and type of roofing. By far the most advanced product - with a 40- year warranty.
The park's management accepted A-One's proposal, and our building was chosen as one of the first in-line to have a the new roof installed. A-One's initial estimated time for the work was 10 days for two buildings. However, A-One's crew spent near 3-weeks on these buildings. They did not cut any corners. The attention to detail, workmanship and professionalism of the crew are detailed in the pics below. After installation - I have been invited to join the supplier's visit and inspection of the installation to ""accept and initiate"" the 40-year warranty.
During this process A-One's management - on and off-site - kept all parties informed, responded to any and all questions and have offered continued support. Our association made an educated and well researched top-notch choice for which the tenants of our park will continue to reap its benefits for years to come.
A-One Construction performed construction work on my condo as the result of water damage from a pipe leak and additionally they had to replace the patio and seals around two of the three sliders due to water damage and watering leaking in as well. The supervisors and crew were courteous efficient professional and performed stellar work. Having owned homes for over 40 years in over 5 states, I have worked with may contractors and construction companies. Given I have two full time positions as a busy healthcare provider and professor in he midst of COVID-19, these professionals honored my schedule and were epithetic to my scheduling needs and used PPE when working in my dwelling. They cleaned up each day and notified me of their arrival and departure which make me feel very secure. I highly recommend them . Their work is excellent they are professionals to work with.
There was recently a sprinkler leak in the roof that necessitated wall and roof repair, replacement of insulation, dry wall and painting.
Jaime Artega did the original estimate for HOA-- on time, efficient and able to explain the process.
The insulation replacement was done by two excellent and skilled workers named Marvin and Jose. They arrived on time and worked with care. Each day the work site was left spic and span! The job was completed in a timely way and looks beautiful! The two men were polite, friendly and did such a good job you can't even see where the damage was! Much appreciation to A-One for a top-notch job! I am a retired teacher so I give them an A+!
Btw, the men wore masks at all times due to Corona.
I'm no roofing expert but A1 just finished replacing my 2nd story roof, and it looks great. Of course the roof won't truly be tested until winter arrives but I'm pretty confident it will hold up.
The project involved replacing the decking, shingles and gutters, the project was long overdue. A1 has crews of 2-3 guys each who specialize in different aspects of the project, e.g. 1 crew for the demo, 1 crew for the decking, 1 crew for the shingles, etc.
In my case I was anxious about the blown-in insulation in my attic that would be exposed to the elements after the demo and before the new decking was put down. When I learned the morning the day the job was to begin that the demo was scheduled later that afternoon followed by the decking work the next morning I immediately called Lisa in the A1 office. I explained my concerns about the exposed attic space and she said ""no worries, we'll reschedule the demo to happen tomorrow morning"", no begging or bribery needed on my part.
The next day the demo crew arrived and began to remove the old roof. While they were working the decking crew arrived and started to unload the plywood up to the roof. It was a windy day so even though the 2 crews were working simultaneously some insulation did in fact get blown out. But without a doubt had Lisa and A1 not made the last minute scheduling change and both crews not worked simultaneously, mine and my neighbors' yards would have had a fresh coating of white insulation, a huge mess avoided.
Last but not least, I got 2 quotes for my project and A1's was very competitive vs the other quote. So not only am I a satisfied customer but I also saved a few $ along the way.
A-One was hired by my HOA to install new windows and repair/replace our decks, in a few units. My deck was very rotted and needed to be fully replaced because it was a safety hazard. The entire process went very smooth and everything was very timely. I was always notified when they would be working on my unit and the guys would always say hi to me. A-One did a wonderful job from start to finish. Very happy with my new windows and deck!
